Hi everyone.

I have a K1 visa but they waived the part of the vaccines on the medical examination, so now I have to get them here in the US to cover AOS requirements.

I was wondering what's the cheapest way to do it. I already had one in Mexico, and I'm thinking about getting the other ones through my insurance with Kaiser permanente, and then getting the certification from a civil surgeon. Is this accepted or the vaccines NEED to be administered by the civil surgeon directly?

How much do civil surgeons usually charge for certifying this portion of the I-693 only, and how much do they regularly charge for the whole immunization package?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hey, I'm unsure on whether or not now you're in the US the vaccines would need to be administered directly by a civil surgeon, but after my K1 medical in the UK, I received my outstanding vaccination from a nurse at my regular doctor's surgery and then requested an updated vaccination record from them.

I was advised that this vaccination record, along with my K1 medical record would be enough proof that I had received the required immunisations upon AOS.

I hope everything goes well with everything and that you find the answers you're looking for!

You are not required to get your missing immunization from a CS (often times they don't even have the vaccine to administer). My wife got her missing vaccine in the US through my insurance. They covered it all, and we brought proof to the CS to complete the I-639 for transcription. Back then, we paid $50.

If you have medical insurance then you most definitely want to get them thru your insurance - most if not all should be given free as part of your coverage plan. There is no requirement for the civil surgeon to administer them and they only need to certify the I-693 form(s). Also, don't forget to get the "California yellow card" from your doctor.

Start calling around because a lot of them won't just do the vaccine transcription alone and insist on doing the full medical. Prices can vary depending on your area.

They do not have to come from a civil surgeon. Just take the vaccination records for all the required ones you receive to a CS to have transcribed onto an I-693. Yes, you may need to call around to find a CS that will not insist on giving you a new medical.

My wife needed one shot that was missing from her chart. We were able to receive it at a county health center. It was ~30$ cheaper than getting it at a doctors office. They also gave us a piece of paper with their information, which shoved the vaccine she received, date for the shot. After that we took this and her incomplete ds-3025 to a CS who filled out her I-693 without any problems.

Check the local county health services if they do vaccinations, it will be cheaper.

Awesome! Thanks for your responses.

I'll check through insurance and through county health services, and I'll call different doctors to see which one will charge only for the vaccines certifications.

Thanks guys.
