Hi Everyone, I had my interview today at NY, I applied base on marriage (3 Y rule). I passed the interview but received the following document N-14. I had most of the documents with me except the letter from the spouse's employer. I asked her that she can take what I had with me but she advised to submit everything again as listed in N-14. She said "it is better" to do it that way and nowadays it is a common practice. Personally, I feel it was unnecessary. I had submitted a mountain of documents to prove our marriage before.

 

I saw many people getting this document today. Based on current situation around the world I think they require to have all these documents before they approve anyone. During my interview 4 other IO officer came with their pending files which were waiting for N-14 documents and asked for approval from my interviewer and she approved in front of me. 

 

My advice to all, Please go through the N-14 and make sure you carry these documents with you along with other documents you think they might ask for. Good Luck!!!;)

04/20/2016: Online Status Changed to "Interview was Scheduled" 

05/25/2017: Interview Date- Approved!

06/01/2017: Reply to RFE (N-14) Sent

09/20/2017: Email from Ombudsman confirming that they got in touch with USCIS, advised to wait 60 days.

09/22/2017: Request to find out about the case to Senator, acknowledged the receipt of inquiry.

10/02/2017: Ombudsman’s office notified that USCIS made a decision on the case and I will be informed by USCIS within 30 days.

10/02/2017: Talked with a Tier-2 officer and he informed my case was in line for oath since September 22nd, 2017.

10/10/2017: Online status changed to “Inline for Oath ceremony”

10/14/2017: Online status changed to “Oath Ceremony Letter Mailed”

11/03/2017: OATH CEREMONY!

Thanks xtrasome, great info to pass along.

The won't get all of that from me, lol, neither one of us have an employer, being retired. Tax stuff and bank stuff I have, but I am not sure if they need all that from 5 year filers. I have a wodge of stuff to take, I'll just to the best I can :)

Hi Guys!!

Just want to say that I love this website. It helped me more than 5 years ago when I was in the process of 'adjusting' my status to see how everyone else was coming along.

Then 5 years later the next journey came, to become a U.S. citizen. I've been viewing this page for the last 7+ months seeing everyone else's timeline and stories of the n-400 application.

I want to share my timeline.

Sent in my packet around October 18ish.

Priority date was Oct 21, 2016

Biometrics Nov 15th

Status update on December 9th, in line for interview.

Interview scheduled notice on March 10th

Interview scheduled for April 5

April 5th, smooth and quick(25 min interview)

a week later, notice, in line for oath ceromony

May 12th, notice of oath scheduled.

a few days later i got my letter for my oath scheduled for May 24th.

May 24th became a USC.

right after I applied for my U.S. Passport(Didn't know I had to give them my certificate to send in. thought it was funny how I waited years to get this certificate just to give it away right away(i knoooowwwwww i'm getting back in a few weeks))

 

but yeah. I want to thank everyone in this forum. Its the only way I could guess how long it was going to take for each step, by seeing everyone elses timeline.

 

oh yeah btw, i'm San Diego.

Sent in my packet around October 18ish.

Priority date was Oct 21, 2016

Biometrics Nov 15th

Status update on December 9th, in line for interview.

Interview scheduled notice on March 10th

Interview scheduled for April 5

April 5th, smooth and quick(25 min interview)

a week later, notice, in line for oath ceromony

May 12th, notice of oath scheduled.

a few days later i got my letter for my oath scheduled for May 24th.

May 24th became a USC.

right after I applied for my U.S. Passport(Didn't know I had to give them my certificate to send in. thought it was funny how I waited years to get this certificate just to give it away right away(i knoooowwwwww i'm getting back in a few weeks))

 

but yeah. I want to thank everyone in this forum. Its the only way I could guess how long it was going to take for each step, by seeing everyone elses timeline.

 

oh yeah btw, i'm San Diego.

I think it's strange that other people have been placed in line for oath after me at the same office and they already became citizens. If I don't get another update in the next few days I guess I'll scheduled an info pass

If you did request to change your name on N-400, you might get waiting for Oath ceremony longer than other people. it will be 45 days.

No more interview, I passed already. Have to send documents now, then wait for oath date.

10/08/2016: Application Package Sent

10/31/2016: Early Biometric Done (Walk-In)

12/06/2016: In Line for Interview

04/20/2016: Online Status Changed to "Interview was Scheduled" 

05/25/2017: Interview Date- Approved!

06/01/2017: Reply to RFE (N-14) Sent

09/20/2017: Email from Ombudsman confirming that they got in touch with USCIS, advised to wait 60 days.

09/22/2017: Request to find out about the case to Senator, acknowledged the receipt of inquiry.

10/02/2017: Ombudsman’s office notified that USCIS made a decision on the case and I will be informed by USCIS within 30 days.

10/02/2017: Talked with a Tier-2 officer and he informed my case was in line for oath since September 22nd, 2017.

10/10/2017: Online status changed to “Inline for Oath ceremony”

10/14/2017: Online status changed to “Oath Ceremony Letter Mailed”

11/03/2017: OATH CEREMONY!
