Guys, advise me please!!!! I will be travelling in Jun. I want to book my flight now to ensure I get a cheap airfare. I did a name change request on my n-400 form. Should I go ahead and use the name that I put on the form? It's actually just an addition of my husband's surname to my surname. So, my maiden name is still going to be there along with my husband's surname... Do u think everything would work out my Jun?

That's a good question. I am looking at an Air NZ seat sale that is ending in two days, trying to decide what to do a as well.  My problem is more to do with picking travel dates, as I would prefer to go in the summer, so now or at least before the end of May, rather than in the winter, which starts around June. I would bet money on those travel days being just when they decide to schedule an appointment.  I think I am going to have to miss out on this one, pity, as the sale is $600 off per ticket. Bah.

As far as the name change, I am not sure what you do about that. There is a thread on here about doing the name change, have you seen that one? Maybe ask on that thread?

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Oh wow!... Thanks so much for that info... I didn't know more than half of the info that I just read...  I added my husband's name and according to that, it doesn't require a legal name change.... I'm curious now to see what will take place since I already submitted the form with the name change...

As for the trip, I went ahead earlier and bought the tickets for myself and my family... I'm desperately praying that I won't get screwed with this!!! God forbid, if things doesn't work out with the citizenship for whatever reason, I'm hoping that it will be simple enough to call the airlines and ask them to drop my husband's surname from my name!

Thanks again Cdneh!

Same here. Picking away at it, but not going to go all out on the names until the dust settles.  I'm plenty occupied; just got the MIL home from the hospital yesterday, she had a minor stroke, and today spent the afternoon back there. The Husband now has bronchitis, so between them I am distracted. :goofy:

Sorry to hear that, I hope they both make a fast recovery! We just had my husband's son stay for a week from Colorado. I tested him and hubby on civics.... both US citizens... both failed...

They are both on the mend, thanks :) Just a lot of fetching and carrying going on.

It's really amazing how many citizens do fail. I guess most of it more or less falls into the category of  "I don't need to know this", and I guess for the most part, they don't. I suppose no one ever asks them how many amendments to the constitution there are, or who was in the White House during WW11.  :P

I've just had a gander at the Memphis N-400 filers for about the past year, at least the ones on threads here on VJ.

One zipped through in short order in February, going from sent 02/12, to the oath on 5/20. Since that time though, not a lot going on there. I don't know for certain if they are even NBC or IOE, for those categories aren't shown in most threads.

Field office Memphis:

1 February all done in May
0 in March
0 April
1 in May - but not updated since f/p June
0 june
1 July - not updated since f/p August
0 August
0 September
3 October in line since 11/16 and 12/16

2 November with January f/p

1 December  16 -noa1

0 January 2017

And yet, from their website, this is what they show. There must be a backlog of applicants who are not on VJ. Or something.

:Field Office Processing Dates for Memphis TN as of: November 30, 2016
