My interview this morning went well until i reached the final interview with a guy american consul..

I was refused for fiance visa because my previous marriage was terminated through sharia divorce and they didnt honor that unless the previous marriage was done under muslim law and got divorce ubder muslim law.. butif it is through conversion its not honored.. the consul adviced me to process annullment and refile k1 once its done and complete. It is so saddening yes but life must go on. My fiance is coming again to visit me after he heard the bad news.. he will be here 6th of march and we start annullment asap.. so for those who are planning to start k1 be sure your fiancee is annulled or single or widow..

Im sure one thing this hasnt slowed us down.. true love will always find its ways.. Goodluck to everyone waiting for approval hope yoy all guys will get approve..

That is a bummer :(  But on the bright side it took less than 100 days from when your packet was sent until the interview. At least you didn't have to wait a half a year or more to find out you needed an annulment.

You will get approved in no time, true love will always find its way :D

My heart breaks for you and your fiance. I'm not familiar with the specifics around annulment/divorce but I wonder if there was a way for this to be caught before you got to the interview stage. I'm sure there are plenty of folks here who have suffered the same fate after months and months of waiting. I hope your next attempt at a K1 visa proves fruitful. :(

I thought i would update on our interview we had last week.  When she went through the interview they only asked for a few documents from her. Her birth certificate, passport, some photos of us together and the death certificate of her late husband and i believe 2 other documents. When she gave them the death certificate, they said that it had to be certified. she tried to explain that it was because it was stamped on the back by the office that issued it. the embassy officer said that it had to be both stamped and certified by that office. she had to go to the NSO office and order a new certificate that was stamped and certified. the certificate is 150 pesos and then to expedite it to the embassy is 210 pesos. Hopefully passing this on may save someone else a few extra days to obtain this document to satisfy the embassy in the philippines. they said they would issue a visa after they received that document. they should have it by tuesday next week

Our case was approved...after close to a three month wait. Didn't get an a NOA2 email though.... I just called them the day before to see if there was any new info, but of course they had to stick by what had only been officially posted.
