I am worried since the 16 received the answer from my RFE and I still have no news, I was only asked for a different birth certificate

I wouldn't worry, even though it's hard not to! Your case status online will probably tell you what date to expect an update by, at the latest. I think USCIS usually gives themselves at least a month's time in those estimates, and with the recent holiday, processing was likely delayed a bit. I think you'll probably hear something within the next week :)

Good news, we got our case number, I guess it was officially in on the 30th of November! My fiancee will be super happy (and me of course!!)! Already prepped everything for the last steps, should go quickly now! :)

What did you do to prep?

Hi,

I frontloaded the I-129 with evidence of meeting and on going relationship, also my fiancée has been putting together more relationship evidence like our ongoing talks via Skype, etc. I already sent the wet signature DS-134 and original I-129 packet info to her with prior 2 years of tax returns and W-2's (about 3 weeks ago), will send most current pay stubs once she is ready to go to the interview. Researched everything needed for DS-160, you know payment for the visa/interview and all the info she needs for her Medical exam in Manila (4 2x2 photos, current and past medical records, vaccinations), researched hotel nearby for her and her aunt to stay at...just thinking about every detail so it goes as smooth as possible for her. She already has her CENOMAR, I had her get her latest police report thing done so it is current. We already have plans for our wedding and an engagement ceremony for her family when I come to pick her up, my mom will come along to meet her family also....so lots to plan!

A man with a plan!

Great job. I think one of the hardest parts for them is NO cell phone at US Embassy. LOL

Hey Jim thanks for your support and all your help you are a great resource! I really wish I could be there with her during her interview but I just do not think it is possible because I'm not sure I could get more then 3 weeks off from work, I'm worried that if I do go to the interview her Visa won't be immediately available for pickup once it is approved? Do they do any expediting for situations like this if they know you can only stay a certain amount of time? Even a week would be really pushing the time frame, unless of course I just plan to come a day or 2 ahead of time....hmm...may have to rethink this, haha.

Visa's can come 7-10 days after interview but as always no guarantees. The rule of thumb is NEVER buy a ticket for her to go to America until VOH (Visa on Hand).

It is not necessary for you to go to interview of course but I've heard directly from Embassy employees that they love to see both parties but again not required at all.

I never showed up with my last 2 and they had zero problems without me. I will be going this time though since though due to my past petitions and for other reasons.

If you time it right she could have her interview later this month but depends upon interview slots available. There "may" be less as many government employees have use or lose leave at end of year so could be skeleton crew until after Jan 1.

Another thing is the medical. The only real delay there is for the dreaded sputnum test for TB.

Also note to all. They have mental health evaluation they will ask the ladies if they ever tried or even thought of suicide in the past.

If they answer YES then off they go to mental health evaluation as in more delays.

Back to the TB.

For my last K-1 and my current Fiancee I sent them both to local doctors for chest X-ray - TB exam. Nip it in butt because if they have TB and need to be treated it can take months.

Last K-1 no TB issues and my current had her exam Xray at local doctor and nothing found.

If you do go in December get out your wallet...LOL

I'm planning Late January or February if they ever get around to working November cases :crying:

Jim

Thanks for the advice, I will have her get an x-ray and maybe TB skin test ahead of time. And no I don't think I will try to be there for her interview that just doesn't make sense.
