NVC received 11/28 but not case number yet, boo..

Dmitry07, try calling today! Called around 1200 ET today and I got my case and invoice number - NVC also received my case on 11/28. Good luck to you!

11/22/17 - I-130 Mailed to Chicago Lockbox

11/24/17 - NOA1 Receipt Date

06/21/18 - NOA2 Approval Date (email, text, app update)

07/17/18 - Case received by NVC

08/09/18 - Case and Invoice number assigned by NVC, paid AOS and IV fees

08/14/18 - Submitted AOS Application and Documents

08/16/18 - Submitted IV Application and Documents

09/17/18 - Case complete at NVC

11/13/18 - Received interview letter from NVC

12/19/18 - Interview at Embassy in Cairo - Approved!

So for anyone that has received NOA2 hardcopy around 11/28 -

I think the logic of the current timeline(s) is to start calling the NVC around 12/19.... correct me if im wrong.

What's the trick for getting my case number from NVC? I tried calling, but once the representative got on the phone and asked me what was my NOA2 date, she automatically told me I shouldn't be calling until after the 6 weeks have passed. She didn't even attempt to look up my info. I see some of you all with NOA2 dates close to mines were able to get your case numbers already, I wanted to try my luck :P

10/14/16-1-129F application mailed to Dallas, TX

10/21/16-NOA1 via text and email

10/31/16-NOA1 hard copy received, name misspelled, contacted USCIS

11/09/16-NOA2. Received text stating case was updated. Checked USCIS website, case listed as approved

12/07/16-NVC case number received

12/08/16-CEAC status: READY

01/25/17-Medical completed

02/21/17-Interview-approved pending medical 

03/02/17-Visa issued

03/09/17-Visa in hand

05/12/17-POE-Atlanta

06/17/17-Wedding

07/01/17-AOS, EAD, and AP application mailed to Chicago, IL via USPS

That's silly. Don't belive that "6 weeks" line. I've called NVC a handful of times and only after I gave them my USCIS receipt number did they ask for my NOA2 date. Just politely tell them that you're inquiring about your case. Besides, you already have them on the phone...you might as well see if they can help you!

BTW, it probably makes the most sense to start calling around 21 days from your NOA2 date since the NVC seems to be running a bit slower than usual. (The K1 guide says to wait 2 weeks.)

It take 3-4 weeks on average. You are right there. That is there standard answer from NVC to get people to stop bugging them.

You should just call every single day until they have it since tomorrow is the 3 week mark.

First they get the case then you may have to call a few days after that to get the actual case number.

Last year it took 7-10 days. They sure are backlogged.
