Yeah, it's upsetting how vague it is. I check our case status everyday too, and it says on the website that the last time it was updated was 2 weeks ago (when it changed to "Document was Mailed" from "Case was received") and its really putting me on edge 'cause I have received zero mail from them since filing the case. I tried to file a request but every time I hit submit I got an error message (screenshot attached) and my heart jumped when I saw the word "approved" but then I thought that if it really is approved then it would say so instead of some vague status that could mean anything...

attachicon.gifScreen Shot 2016-11-23 at 1.52.55 AM.png

I'm going to call them again by Nov 30 since, from the "Case Received" status, they said that if I don't receive a receipt notice by 12/30 I should call them up.

attachicon.gifScreen Shot 2016-11-28 at 12.52.55 AM.jpg

Also, is it okay for me to assume that they're not sending us our document back? Because the updated status did say that if we don't receive anything by 12/17 then we request them to send another copy, right?

attachicon.gifIMG_0346.jpg

I searched the USCIS App for 500 cases around your WAC number of those 500 approximatley 260 were I-129F's all received at USCIS on 10/31 just like both of ours.

Of the 260 there were 3 that were rejected (payment not sent or bounced check (ouch).

3 were returned for lack of signature, these 3 were all sequential case numbers which leave me to believe some bozo attorney failed to have their clients sign the forms before sending them in.

There were about 3 for name updates and 3 for birthdate updates. These happens as on the NOA 1 it says "review your info and if incorrect call us"

Then there were a total of 2 that had "document mailed" one of which is yours.

I would say you need to call USCIS on Wednesday the 30th this week if nothing received in the mail before this date. Tell them you got your NOA 1 text and it said to call if nothing by 11/30 and advise them you have recevied nothing in the postal mail. First thing they will probably want to do is verify your mailing address. That makes me think it could be that they mailed your NOA 1 but it came back undeliverable for some reason.

They may have keyed in your address incorrectly. That would not happen to often but could explain why there is only 2 our of 260 that came back with "document mailed" perhaps and this is only a guess, perhaps they reissued a 2nd NOA 1 once they realized the address was incorrect that they input. Ok I'm just guessing now. Call on 11/30

Let us know.

Jim

Hey folks,

Hope everyone is doing well waiting on the NVC. My fiancé in the U.S. will start calling today or tomorrow, hopefully we'll hear something good!

In the meantime I've been checking up on stuff about the medical and thought I'd share some info if there are any South Africans out there. I just called Dr. Junaid Hoosen's office in Sandton Medical Mews, he is the only approved physician in Johannesburg to perform the visa medical. His number is +27(011)7837320.

In order to make the appointment you'll need the case number and the appointment date. Also, the medical costs R4605 excluding vaccinations (for our U.S. friends, that's about $330), vomit!

That's all I've got.

I want to encase my cellphone in Bronze ... Frozen on the SMS message and display it forever...

Kind of vague message... Had me gulping.

"Your case has been updated"

I surely expected to see an APPROVE in there somewhere.... And since I didn't I thought the worst. But there it was online. Your case is approved.

Looks like our timeline are almost perfectly the same, so i'll be watching when you receive your case number :)

You have been SO helpful Jim, i don't know what I'd do without you. Thank you so much for your help. How were you able to find all this info? Also, for the other couple who got "Document mailed", do you happen to know who they are?

Again, thank you so much! I'm probably gonna end up calling this Wednesday. Fingers crossed for good news!

Congratulations TandD2016! Congrats to everyone else making progress as well - I imagine we are all getting clever about distracting ourselves from waiting :)

I just got off the phone with the NVC and our case was received today (NOA2 11.03.16). They said it hasn't been entered into the system, but to call back by the end of the week for the case number.

Quick question - my fiance is on a work permit in Portugal and has been living there for 4 years - he intends to interview in Paris (they process immigrant visas for Portugal). But he got in touch with the consulate in Paris to ask, and they said he needs to interview in Egypt (he's an Egyptian citizen). That sounds weird to me. I posted a separate thread about this, but didn't get much feedback. Jim - you seem to be our guru here :) Any advice on whether an interview can happen outside of the fiance's country of citizenship? Concerned that we'll need to re-direct our application while it is at the NVC now (is that possible?) if he really does need to interview in Cairo, let alone change our plans pretty significantly regarding the medical, etc.

Thank you!!!

Is it business/working days or total days? Seems like 21 is the average, but thinking its really longer now.

I think it's total calendar days. And yes, the average appears to be going up lately. I saw someone recently with an NOA2 to NVC timeframe of 27 days.
