Did the person on the other end ask you to verify social security number, date of birth, or ask for other personal identifiable information? I'm curious because I've never heard of any USCIS/NVC officers making personal calls. I'm worried about that. Did you check your status on the USCIS website or the USCIS app to confirm what you've been told?

And does it make a difference if our relationship wasn't long before we decided to get married?

The longer your relationship prior to filing the I-129F the better however a short relationship prior to filing should not result in a denial.

We are in the same boat as you. An RFE for more proof of relationship could be issued but once we provide the info then an approval should follow.

There are people who lived together for 10 years, tied the knot and divorced a month later.

Then on the other side there are couples who literally married the day they met and have been married for 10 years or more.

Each couple is different and each USCIS employee is different. They are paid in part to use their judgement.

Life is like a box of....oh never mind...LOL you get the point.

Hi everyone!

Finally good news from USCIS, got a call from California Service Center yesterday afternoon that my I-129F was approved November 18, I was so happy, but I was wondering do immigration officers from that service center usually make personal calls to petitioners, I kind of found that odd to say the least. But anyhow I'm still happy next step would be NVC ?.... so happy right now!!!!! To know they received my petition on October 11, 2016 and was approved November 18, 2016 that is great for me??????

Just got wait patient for NOA2 in the mail hopefully all goes smoothly from here on out....????????

Average for Nigeria since July 1, 2016 to Nov 18th has been 40 days from NOA 1 to NOA 2.

Hope that give you some peace of mind over the weekend.

Thanks jim... i have noticed some countries of origin got approved faster. my fiance was worried that Ben from Nigeria it was more likely to get the denied or an RFE, I told him not to worry about it but might there be a reason to?

The I-129F petition is to approve YOU the US petitioner so what country your fiance is from doesn't make too much difference.

The Embassy visa interview is where your Nigerian fiance/e might face more scrutiny than someone from another country due to the high fraud rate.

As long as you are both free to marry and he has no criminal record and you can both show evidence of relationship there in his home country then I would not worry at this point.

Lets get through the NOA 2 and go from there.

as long as your a genuine couple , its no reason to worry =) , only reason to wry would be if you have criminal records, a ridiculous age gap , different religions , other red flags etc but thats any embassy really
