Hey Jim... Everything seems to be quiet on our timelines... Would an RFE been expected by now if we were so lucky to have been picked? What's the average timeline NOA1 to RFE if such a stat exists?

We have nearly exact timelines so I thought I'd jump in and let you know that I haven't received NOA 2 yet- maybe ours are in the same reviewing batch? ^_^ It's been about 21 days, hopefully no RFE's.

Hey all,

Since we're pretty much all at the NVC-waiting-game stage, I thought I'd ask a few Qs.

I noticed that the hard copy of NOA2 doesn't mention the NVC step at all, so I'm curious as to the purpose of this step...

What happens if we don't cal the NVC? I mean, is the whole purpose of calling to get the case number? And if so, what do we need the case number for?

Surely the case is forwarded to the embassy whether we call or not? ?

Also, how does the embassy notify the foreign fiancé that the case has arrived?

TIA

The case number allows us to finish the DS-160 form, finish the medical exam, and CFO (in Philippines), and ultimately schedule an interview date. Honestly I'm guessing the US citizen filing it is suppose to notify his or her fiance/fiancee and start the DS-160 because they are the only ones that can fill out this form since it needs to be electronically signed by him/her only. I also don't understand why they have the 2 steps before going to consulate/embassy, maybe a way to route them?

Maybe I am wrong, but the 0700 number would never lead me to a prompt, and I'd always get hung up on ("We're too busy. Call back later."). I have a fiancee visa. I called the 0888 number, which answered and prompted me with a menu that lead me to someone who checked for my fiancee visa USCIS case # -- wait for answer less than 10 minutes.

Phone (for immigrant visa inquiries only):

(603) 334-0700. Customer Service Representatives can speak with you Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight EST, excluding holidays.

Phone (for nonimmigrant visa inquiries only):

(603) 334-0888. Customer Service Representatives can speak with you Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight EST, excluding holidays.

From:

https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/nvc/nvc-contact-information.html

So if 0888 is for the non-immigrant visa...why are people calling 0700 to check status on NVC...?

My boyfriend sent the certified divorce decree to California Service Center yesteday, we are crossing fingers ??? NOA2 is the goal.

We got a RFE since USCIS asked for a very legible stamp and signature from judge. So my bf went to the District Court and got the whole certified document.

I hope CSC could receive the divorce decree + blue notification letter + cover letter accordingly.

Just wanted to say that I'm at Day 25 of waiting, if I am to go off of the date in the NOA1. This wait is driving me a little nuts lol

I know the feeling! Trust me, once you have NOA2, you get to wait again for your NVC case number. And then more waiting for the embassy, medical exam, interview, etc. As the wise man Tom Petty once said, "The waiting is the hardest part."
