Noob question, can anyone explain how the estimated approval dates works? I searched the timeline section but I can't seem to find anything for estimates. thanks

Sure no problem.

As people receive their NOA 1 and NOA 2 and input it into their timeline here on VJ then the data is compiled to show AVERAGE approval times based upon OTHER peoples entries into their own timelines.

That is why it is important to put the right dates which are the dates on the actual hard copy not the dates of text or receipt by mail of NOA's.

Once you input your NOA 1 date into your timeline then at the bottom of the timeline it will give you and estimate of what range of dates you may expect an approval. - No guarantees though.

Hope this helps.

You input the date of the Email which was 10/26. It won't make a whole lot of difference but try inputing the date that is on the hard copy NOA 1, Upper right hand corner. This is the date that should be used in the VJ timeline.

Next week might be some good news for you if that is the case.

Does it make a difference if we put a lot of things with our I-129? Could that delay the time? I see people who have received their NOA2 and they got their NOA1 after I did. I put a lot of pages of our chat conversations

Hi everyone!

Finally good news from USCIS, got a call from California Service Center yesterday afternoon that my I-129F was approved November 18, I was so happy, but I was wondering do immigration officers from that service center usually make personal calls to petitioners, I kind of found that odd to say the least. But anyhow I'm still happy next step would be NVC ?.... so happy right now!!!!! To know they received my petition on October 11, 2016 and was approved November 18, 2016 that is great for me??????

Just got wait patient for NOA2 in the mail hopefully all goes smoothly from here on out....????????

Yes, that's very odd. I've never seen anyone here on VJ get a call to say their petition was approved. At most, I've gotten a text/SMS. Never a phone call, though. Congrats on your approval! On to NVC next...

Nhenriques1,

Did the person on the other end ask you to verify social security number, date of birth, or ask for other personal identifiable information? I'm curious because I've never heard of any USCIS/NVC officers making personal calls. I'm worried about that. Did you check your status on the USCIS website or the USCIS app to confirm what you've been told?

Not a bit of difference unless you sent in a 15lb box of stuff. If you gave them a huge envelope packed with a lot of things it might delay it for a few days but as long as you are providing evidence that might actually speed up your approval. If you don't give enough proof they could do RFE which could set you back 1 to 3 weeks or more.

Bottom line. Don't worry about it.

Well the person called from California service center he never asked me for my social security number.... just to verify my fiancé middle name and were he was born... he then read my receipt number back to me... and gave me his agent ID number as verification...and ask were my fiancé was born. Then said my case was approved, I did not believe him until I received a follow up email and text that my case was approved... so I guess it's something new... I'm just happy that part is over...
