BE HONEST AND TRY TO EARN TRUST (MARRIAGE IS ALL ABOUT TRUST, GIVE N TAKE, LOVE, PRAISE) ONE LIE CAN GIVE BIRTH TO MANY SUSPICIONS. TRY NOT TO STAY AWAY FROM YOUR LOVED ONE. I KNOW ITS VERY HARD WHEN YOU ARE IN TWO SEPRATE COUNTRIES YOU ARE ALWAYS THINKING ABOUT YOUR BELVOED ONE. WHEN THAT COMES TO YOUR MIND TAKE A DEEP BREATH AND PRAY. PRAYERS HELP GOD EXIST IN THIS WORLD. BELIVE IN GOD HE WILL HELP YOU UNDERSTAND AND THEN BELIVE IN YOUR PARTNER.

I know for sure that we have learned how to communicate very well. That is the only thing I am grateful for when it comes to this long distance relationship. I have never had a communication level such as this one in any of my past relationships. I think it will play a big part of our marriage being successful.

 On the communication issue. I have seen SO many marriages and relationships fall apart due to poor communication. That is one thing that this whole stupid long distance ####### is good for... I have never known another person as well as I know Paul, since all we can do is talk... Only thing I can think to add is do unto your partner as you would have them do unto you ;) Its the first time I have ever stopped before saying something and truely thought how it would make me feel if I heard him say it.

Sure. Being honest with one another. But in the US, we're living in a very materialistic society. Unfortunately, I think we are bounded by having to keep pursuing a large enough income to keep paying for things that are usually a big strain on the family budget. Both parents are working fanatically. Children are raising themselves. The things that matter, such as family unity, values, etc., don't seem to be very high on the priority list.

For those of us who are over the age of 40, remember the times when we were children? We didn't have Playstations, computers, DVD players, etc. I cherish those times because we could run all over the place. Gangs were not a problem. Nobody pulled out guns at a party. Damn! Those were good times! I wish children these days could grow up with all the innocent fun. There is so much ####### to worry about now.

What I was getting to, concentrate on FAMILY. Lose your family, everything else follows.

Pick the right people is key to making a marriage work. In a marriage, being selfish is your own self is very detrimental. Very few marriages can get away with being selfish. This is just a suggestion.

I think a lot of people are (unfortunately) in for a rude awakening if they don't learn to really communicate with the other person by the time the 'playing house' begins to set in. Talking-with is not necessarily the same as communicating...

We have the same core values, beliefs, goals, and interests, and we trust each other implicitly. But the main thing is that we plan to obey the instructions God laid out for husbands and wives in the Bible.

Ephesians 5:22-33, KJV

22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

I had a buddy that married a gal (from america) that he met on the internet and they agreed on one rule before they got married.

NO INTERNET

I about blew my cork on him. I said "why are you marrying her, you both don't trust each other". Trust your spouse. If you do not trust one another, hang it up.

I may have a bad taste in my mouth. I am glad I found my trustworthy wife outside the US. I gave up on this materialistic, competitive country. My spouse appreciates the little things in life.

Make sure that you are happy with who you are. Two people that are happy and come together to become one, is what works.

One person that is down on themselves brings the relationship down, and the happy person gets sick of you.

Keep a smile on your face and I wish you all the most that happiness can bring you and your spouse.
