Hello!

So ive been in the US for one year on my green card.

Ive been working for 9 years and have a good job here is the US. I have never had post high school education and I want to start thinking about doing an online degree.

Any advice on financial aid? I think I will have trouble as I earn a decent salary. Worth starting a FAFSA? Any alternatives for mature students?

I am from the UK so I have even considered doing the OPEN University online thus saving me money.

Cheers

Levy

Don't worry about your salary financial aid can be for everyone.

Online education is the fastest growing segment in education. There are many options for working adults. Here are a few tips.

- Make absolutely sure the school you chose is accredited.

- Try to avoid for-profit schools. Many can be predatory (google what happened to ITT Tech).

- Make sure the school offers the program you want to enroll. Not all majors are offered. For instance, there are no online neurosurgery degrees and for good reason.

- Know your budget. People think online degrees won't cause them great debt but it can. There are some great schools that offer online options but they come with a price. For example, University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill) is highly ranked and has an MBA program but cost nearly $100,000 to complete. While University of Texas - Dallas cost around $40,000 for its MBA program.

I hope this helps.
