I had my F2A interview at Mumbai consulate during first week of August. After the interview I was told that the VISA is approved. But later, by mid of August, I got a letter (221(g) ) along with my passport stating that a VISA is currently unavailable since the fiscal year 2016 annual limits have reached and I will be contacted once the VISA is available.

Since it is already next fiscal year (Oct 1st), does any one know, how long will I have to wait further?

My PD is Sep 2014.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Mariabetances

There are just around 250000 visas available across the world for all the Family Based categories (of Permanent Residents) for a fiscal year, out of which, I believe, only 7% is allocated to each country. So there is a chance that the VISA number can get exhausted for countries like India, China, and Mexico towards the end of fiscal year.

Just wanted to check if anyone else is in the same situation as mine especially in India.
