Hi everyone,

I just received our NOA's yesterday and want to keep the momentum going. I've read about people calling USCIS to get Biometrics appointments but my NOA says that USCIS will schedule it and send me a letter with information.

Just wondering if I could speed things up by calling them and scheduling it myself?

Any ideas?

I think you will just have to wait for them to schedule your appointment.. I know on my NOA it tells me in Capital letters that USCIS will schedule my biometrics appointment.. Lots of times i wish i could schedule it myself, but I think they prefer to do it this way... You probably wont have to wait long.. most ppl only wait a month or so...

If your letter says "we will schedule your appointment", you would not be ablet to schedule it yourself, unless you trick the operator somehow or your application is outside of the processing dates. You could always try calling or doing a walk in, but don't set your hopes too high, then you won't be disappointed.

09-02-2005 Applications for AOS, EAD, and AP received by MSC

10-21-2005 AOS fingerprint notice for 12-08-2005

11-07-2005 AP approved

12-05-2005 Infopass appt at San Jose office for interim EAD -- Refused, because it is already approved by MSC on 11-07-2005

12-07-2005 Attempt at interim EAD at San Francisco office -- no go. Back to San Jose, where CSO (chief station officer) tells they will contact MSC via email to request permission to issue interim EAD

12-08-2005 Biometrics for AOS and EAD. Having no EAD appt letter was no problem (used EAD NOA)

12-15-2005 EAD arrived in the mail

12-24-2005 Received interview letter; interview scheduled 03-01-2006

01-28-2006 Received replacement SSN card in married name (5 wks since application)

03-01-2006 AOS interview -- approved; received stamp in the passport

03-13-2006 Green card arrived in the mail

Thanks for the replies :) I tried calling the 800# to schedule it but didn't have my NOA's with me to give them some code they wanted. It sounded like they were actually going to schedule it. I'll give it another shot tomorrow but I wont get my hopes up too high ;)

It has worked for some people. I just can't remember who.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

The odd time people have been able to schedule their biometrics. The whole process changed around July 05, before that people booked their own, after that the NOAs said they would send a letter. If you go past your 90 days waiting for EAD biometrics, then you schedule an INFOPASS appointment to see what's up, and often then you can get the biometrics scheduled.

Heading Home!

I was fortunate (it sounds like) to be able to go directly into my local application filing center just down the street and request to be added in. I went first thing in the morning after all the people with appointments went through the line, then asked the attendant if I could get my biometrics done. She looked over all my details, decided I needed my marriage license to prove my change of name. I drove down the street, came back 10 minutes later and was put into line. The place opened around 8, I got through at 9.10 after all the appointments a month and a half ahead of the appointment time.

It may work for you, it may not. The first time I tried, I was told they only did that on Wednesdays, and when I came the second time (as noted above) the superior had to approve it and she didn't look too happy. Just smile, be polite and have your documents (IE: your NOAs, etc).

I would not count on doing a walk-in for biometrics in South Florida. I know someone who was approved for her green card pending redo of the biometrics. They could not schedule her into the West Palm Beach ASC. She ended up getting scheduled into Miami. We tried to do a walk-in here in West Palm -- NO WAY! I have read others saying walk-ins at the ASC's in Broward County were a no-go as well.

I have been waiting for my BIO letter since Dec 8th. I was going to try the walk-in, but everyone says not to bother anymore. I have seen alot of people call and try and make an appointment and were told to wait for the letter.

I also know for a fact things are slowly starting to speed up here in South Florida. My aunt's step-daughter works for immigration and was sent down here for 6 months from Vermont to help speed up the paperwork blackhole that used to be South Florida. (We got an interview a heck of a lot sooner than we ever thought possible.) I know we all get sick of hearing it, but be patient and it will happen.

:goofy: See our timeline below. We did not even get a biometrics appointment letter until one week before our 90 days was up. We were desperate calling the "misinformation" line and not being told anything other than our case was being processed. I was thinking the darn letter got lost in the mail as everyone else was passing us by. I got so desperate that I looked up the local service center's address (no phone numbers ever listed) and wrote them a letter apologizing for not following the right procedures, but explaining that the next week was 90 days and my husband needed and wanted to work and that we couldn't do anything without biometrics. They got it on a Friday. Of all things we got our appointment letter from Missouri on Monday for the following Thursday, BUT, the service center DID respond by sending us a biometrics appointment letter too - same day, different time. So they actually felt sorry for us I guess. Anyhow, Keith and Daryl had 2 times for that day but used the first time. So, for anyone out there, if you are close to the 90 days and havent heard, write the center you will be going to and see if you get a response. It's worth a try. :goofy:
