There has to be a way to shut down people who give out false information based on zero research and insists their opinions is the law. The false advice can hurt people and screw with their lives and chances of immigrating. This is a real danger and disservice to people relying on VJ for help.

Cutting down on the bickering would contribute to positivity and decrease negativity.

I have never seen a post edited for giving false information, or deleted.

Doing so is not a breach of the ToS.

Well that is not what he is suggesting.

I think the thumps down button would be a good idea. Otherwise people would just start an argument with the person who's wrong and the person who is wrong would just be defensive and annoying. And since reporting it would be useless because of free speech it would be an easy way of showing that the person is wrong instead of starting an argument that will only get the thread locked.

VJ had it, they took it away.

Can we get a thumbs down button so people can show when advice is wrong? This would help with the bickering.

We tried it and it failed. There's no prerequisite level of knowledge required to give a thumbs up or down. Just because a majority of people agree (or disagree) with a post doesn't mean they are right. It's better to point out and explain why something is incorrect and provide the correct information. That's really the purpose of the forum.

Then there would be the people that dislike a person thumbing them down...
