Hi Guys! I've been following this thread for a while and wanted to let people know my most recent update. My NOA is 10/11/2016, and I sent in my citizenship application as soon as I could on October 2017. My case was transferred to the local office Feb. 28/ March 5 just like a lot of other people. I haven't heard anything about my I-751 application and was starting to get worried since I applied so long ago, but today I got this update. Hope this helps others who applied in early October!

Hmm, If you are receiving the letter from local office, it could be actual case transfer and they might schedule for an interview or they might just say thay they received your case at local office and review it (approve/interview). From your Screenshot, I do not see Statue of liberty so looks like it's not approval letter. Please update us..

The letter i received today was a interview thats schedule to happen in 3 weeks

...So I got my approval notice letter on April 12th and I still haven't received my Green Card. I called USCIS to see if I can get a tracking number (I saw online that you can do that), the second person I talked to told me that my case is still pending. I told him I have received the letter of approval but he said that to take the letter to local office and show them so they can identify where it comes from. This is just ridicules.I think he was just tiered of people calling a lot and wanted to get rid of me(at least I hope) smh. Do you guys know how long does it take to receive the card after approval letter received?

Hi All,

I received the approval letter on April 19th but haven't received the card yet. I have work that requires me to travel outside of the states next week. My guess is the card won't arrive before my trip.  And as seeing BECCA123's story, now i'm more worried. Should I risk it to travel with the I 551 stamp only? Does anyone have any experiences traveling with I551 stamp with airlines/entry to US that can share?

Thank you!!

Hey, sorry I got you worried. It wasn't my intention. I think the USCIS agent  was just being a jerk. But on traveling with I-551 stamp might be a little risky. On the approval notice letter they advised not to travel before getting the card.

We have the approval letter as well that advises against travel, and have not received her card, but  my wife also has the I-551 stamp, I would think that travelling with the stamp would be fine? I would like to know the definitive answer also.

This is super wrong.

Traveling on valid 551 is totally fine. Case is still processed before you getting your card. Not sure why would you say “risky” to make a person worry if there is no basis for such comment other than personal guess

Because The letter of approval from USCIS says so. Why would I wanna worry anyone?  If you get the approval letter maybe you should read it.

Just to jump in here.  I gave USCIS a call a few days ago to inquire about travel between approval and receiving GC with an i-551 stamp.

I explained the letter said not to travel but that I travel for work and already have an i-551 stamp that expires in December.  The lady I spoke to put me on hold for a few minutes and then came back to tell me it was fine to travel but that I should take the approval letter with me just in case.

Perhaps a few others should try giving USCIS a call also to see the response? Like Scazy implies, it would be very odd if the cbp officer caused an issue once the case is approved ?
