This is so messed up. My step daughter is 17 and will be 18 in April. I am so insecure about my wife only having a stamp on a passport that means nothing to anyone.  My step daughter's biometric appointment was included in the same letter as my wife. I guess I will wait a few more months. My step daughters passport has expired so that is something else I am working on. She cannot get an I551 stamped on her passport.

It looks like @Ksenia_O has given you really good information as regards your daughter. As for your insecurity about a passport stamp, rest assured that it does mean a valid green card to DMVs, banks, jobs etc. Everyone who has any reason/right to ask for proof of legal residency accepts the stamp - it's actually in the list of acceptable ID for  I-9s, driver's licenses etc. Try not to worry about that too much.

Further, no one knows how long it will take for CSC to get to October filers. They've made reasonably good progress in October/November (unlike the last 8 months, when they were pretty much stopped) and the most recent approval that I've seen was an I-751 that was filed August 10th. So 4 more months seems like a reasonable expectation, but I've also seen CSC really "turn up the gas" and power through a lot of applications, so keep your hopes up.

Is your timeline updated?

my infopass appointment was on the 23rd of October 2017 , Chicago USCIS. I got my I-551 stamp though there was some delays as the system was down. I just checked the infopass appointment site , and there are appointments for the 28th of  November 2017. I suggest trying after midnight.

Wow that is very close to expiration date! Admire your courage! :)) glad it all worked out!

Yes , me too. Again , thank GOD. I suppose as long as you keep calm and provide the facts (LPR , ROC , 797, processing times at CSC/VSC) , you will be fine. I even had page 38 of the CBP manual printed , that states that the expired green card , NOA is sufficient prove of LPR status.

Interesting to see they updated their processing times yesterday to reflect processing times from Sept 30th. However, I don't see either moving as CSC are on 3rd of August and VSC are on Oct 10th. I don't see any movement since the last up date at the beginning of the month. :(

Yes, sometimes there seem to be those "false updates" - either some "department" missed the deadline and they've updated some random form type that we don't follow, or somebody on a computer at USCIS visits the page by accident, doesn't change anything, but still triggers the "Updated On" date to change in the system. There've been a few of those through this ridiculous 15+ month journey we've been on! **sigh**

Yes there are,  but this one went from the end of August to the end of Sept.  So basically at the beginning of the month they said the same dates as of August 31st and yesterday they updated it with the same dates as of September the 30th.  The wait continues...........   but life goes on and one day, when totally unexpected we will all hear from them.  :(

No, the update that I saw that had Aug 31 as the "current as of" date had July 19th as the date they were working on. Maybe that's what they were correcting - they updated the "working date" but forgot to update the "current as of" date.

The last few months updates were:

Sept 18 (as of July 31) working on July 5 (16 days forward)

Oct 13 (as of Aug 31) working on July 19 (14 days forward)

Nov 10(ish) (as of Sept 31) working on Aug 3 (15 days forward)

Hi! Congratulations! Quick question!

What type of envelopes your approval letter and green card were mailed?

In particular, does it says "do not forward" on it? I worry about my address change. Thank you
