I'm in the same boat... I'd like to go home for Christmas. My GC expired 12/23/16 so the letter will take my up to 12/2317. I'm guessing I can just go get a stamp in my passport that extends my status? Will that cause me any issues traveling? Hopefully we all get our cards by then anyway...

I'm hoping the same thing! But my plan is that I will make an appointment in November to get my passport stamped, which from my research seems like the only way. (And the mis-information line isn't being much help!)

All-

November VSC filer here. May I ask for a volunteer in your thread to dust off your list and maintain it over time. I am sure there are other folks like BM2014 who have not made it onto the list yet. The October VSC filers should be hearing hopefully very soon and it would be helpful to all other months in waiting.

Thank you! God bless for a speedy approval.

How early can you get the stamp? Well, it depends on the office/officer. The official rule is 30 days before the extension expires, but some offices will do it "early" if you have a good reason (upcoming travel, trouble with DMV getting a license etc). If you can stand to wait, plan to go within that 30 day window.

How can I book an appointment when they're always full? It's a sneaky trick that they only book 2 weeks out from a given day. And depending on how busy your office is, those slots fill up quickly. Usually, the new slots (which would be on the day 2 weeks after "today") open up late at night (midnight or later). Set an alarm and check for times then, at 12:01. If that doesn't work, try other random hours late at night/early in the morning.

Good luck!

Thank you so much. That explains everything. I am trying to convince my husband to wait, but he still isn't quite convinced that the letter extended his time a year from the date on the green card itself, not the date on the letter. I told him Visa Journey has never led us astray before, so now is not the time to have doubts. And yeah, I have no doubt the USCIS Houston office is one of the busiest in the country, and of course after the hurricane they will be backed up trying to reschedule people. We will try late-night scheduling!

If it helps, you can tell him that they've actually changed the wording on the newest batch of letters to make it more clear that the extension is a year from the date on the green card... obviously lots of people were confused so they've finally fixed the language to specify what they meant!  How long did it take them to finally make the change? (!):bonk: I'd attach the image that someone posted yesterday, but I don't remember which thread it was on. If I find it I'll post it!

Ok time slowly going to our extended stay to be expired. So what is going to happen if my stay expires and I have not get a chance to schedule info pass, for example? Is it my fault that every time I go to uscis website there are no appointments available?

Just got my letter! I was so sure I'd get an RFE, but apparently what little we had was enough.

When I go to check my status on the USCIS site, though, I just get the "Fees were waivered" glitch message.

Now I'm just hoping the actual card won't get lost in the mail... and that the CSC gets to the rest of you guys soon!

Uhh, looks and sounds good!
I'm also Vermont, and from Denmark (LOL!!) but still nothing as far as case update.
I'm anxious! - especially since my husband and I have seperated after we sent int the application. We're trying to work some things out but ... it doesn't look too good.
I hope we don't get called into an interview. We had a child so... hopefully they'll let us be.

AOS from F-1, maintaining status

August 2010 was introduced to each other during a visit in NY.
01/14/2012: Arrived at JFK with F-1 visa with the intention of studying for three years, and then do OPT. Intention was not to get married!
Yet, almost five semesters as a full-time international student later he proposed ...

04/07/2014: Married in Queens, NY

06/26/2014: I-485, I-130, I-765, I-131 and supporting documents sent to Chicago Lockbox via USPS Priority.

06/30/2014: USPS states delivery happened 6:50 am.

07/07/2014: Received NOA of I-130, I-485, I-131, I-765 dated 07/02. --- What a great 3-month anniversary gift!

07/15/2014: Received Biometrics appointment scheduled 07/31, in Long Island City.

07/31/2014: Biometrics done. Process took 45 minutes. 99% was waiting time. Awesome people working there. Good experience!

08/06/2014: Case i-485 updated to Testing & Interview on uscis.gov - - Yay!

08/29/2014: Updates on I-765, card in production as well as I-131.

09/04/2014: Update on I-485, interview scheduled for October 10th, 2014.
09/08/2014: Received combo-card. Went straight to Social Security office to get SSN.
09/15/2014: Received Social security card in mail.
10/10/2014: Interview at Long Island City. Took no more than 10 minutes. Was simple, normal questions. Was approved on spot.

ROC

10/07/2016: USPS stated I-751 was delivered. Also sent in fee waiver request.
10/19/2016: Got everything back, with denied fee waiver. They misspelled my name. Makes me wonder if they even read my application. My name is all over the papers.
10/25/2016: Sent in ROC (I-751) again, with USPS.

10/29/2016: I-751 delivered again.
11/2/2016: Checks cashed

That's awesome! I hope I get mine soon. I will be moving shortly and that would be a mess. I wonder how they are doing it. It looks like some are now getting approved but they say they are working on July of 2016. Who knows how the order works.

I have been on pins and needles for some time. I didn't realize how long removing condition really takes. I was reading in August 2016, and September 2016 filers. Someone had mentioned something called USPS informed delivery. I signed up for it and you can see the items in your mailbox before they come. Low and behold I looked and there was something from USCIS. So of course I went there to look. I was approved on 08/30/17. I got the letter mailed yesterday. I think it's kind of cute that the approval date is the fourth year anniversary of when I met my husband for the first time.

Says my my green card will take up to 60 days. I'm pretty sure it said that last time and I received it a week or so later. I'm so relieved because my job you need to renew your license every year. When you are not a American citizen you need to bring your green card. So happy that I will have no issues this year. 😀😀😀😀

@Danielle8572 Congrats! This is great news that gives us all hope that we will hear back soon. Can you please include your mailing date/ NOA1 to the October-16 list? Or can you at least share them here so folks can add you. Thank you!
