Hi. 

 

I just wanted to share that finally I had my interview on Friday. I filed I-751 with divorce waiver. 

 

The interview lasted about 30 minutes. The officer was very polite and asked me a lot of regular questions about my marriage and why it did not work out. 

 

At the end he told me he had to review everything again before making a decision. 

 

Around 3pm I received a case status update “New Card being produced”. So I guess my case was approved and I have to wait for my 10-year GC to arrive in the mail.

First off congrats!!!  Thats amazing news!!!

 

Could you please share more about your process, I filed a joint petition in Nov 2016 and got divorce 2017 and im waiting to receive a notice with the date of my interview (its been almost 2 months since a receive a notice saying my case was transferred to NBC and an interview would be scheduled)

 

 

when did you file for ROC?

Was it joint petition and then you switch for waiver? If so, when and how you switched?

Did you get an RFE? 

Did you get a notice that your case was transferred to NBC and an interview would be scheduled?

if so, how long did it take from that notice to receiving the notice with the interview date?

Did you ever use a lawyer?

I filed on October 2016 the petition with divorce waiver. 

 

In April 2018 I received an RFE which I responded to in June. After that I got the notification that my case was transferred to the local field office in the beginning of July.  On July 29th I received my interview letter, which was held on Friday. 

 

I used a lawyer since the beginning and I would definetely recommended using one. His support was very important.

We finally got our approval notice in the mail!!! Yay!🤗🍾🎉

 

We actually received a transfer notice via sms on august 16th and that were gonna be receiving a notice of transfer. The letter just came in today dated 8/16 and it says approval notice! We waited 1 yr and 10 months.

Hey Val thanks! But this case is a bit different because at the time I filed I was still married...happily I thought anyway. I could not have done a waiver. Still can’t either because I am still married. I can only inform them of the divorce and await the RFE for the divorce decree.

Well today was the day... this morning we went for the interview.

But although we were out again in about 30 minutes, it was not an easy interview.
The officer said it looked like since last year we wanted to look married again. To explain a bit, the hospital my wife worked at closed and after that she worked PRN (on call basis) without benefits, so in 2017 I was without insurance. Early this year she was hired full time and was offered benefits, and thus put me on her insurance. Meanwhile I also have a job and she dropped her insurance and I put her on mine.
Also until last year we only had one vehicle, and the insurance and title was still on her name only (even ex-husbands last name) Since February 2017 we have a 2nd car that lists both names on the contract and since than we also had both our names on the car insurance.
I don't even want to try to explain what we had to go through to change her name on her passport. (how can someone not even married for 5 years proof that they have been married for 5 years??)

In the invitation letter they ask you to bring the last 2 years of tax return, which I did. The officer wanted to see what happened before that. Well we have the tax returns since 2013 but I only brought 2016 and 2017.
But after all she approved my case.. just received the text message that my case was changed. Went into the case tracker app and that shows now 'New card is being produced'

Now next step to file the N-400

Congrats on the approval!

Updates on our end too, a few days ago we received an naturalization interview invitation for late September. Unfortunately, we received a second letter a few days later informing us that interview had been descheduled, and they will send another letter to reschedule. Looking online it seems we shouldn't be too worried but still another delay in the process. The letter did not specify the reason for the need to reschedule.

Last week Wednesday (8/29) my I-751 interview and the lady IO told us she would approve my application. Wednesday afternoon text message "case status changed". Status stated New card is being produced.
Tuesday (9/4) (guess because of labor day) received my letter that case was approved and in the afternoon text message case status changed. Status stated Card is mailed to you.

Wednesday (9/5) Another email and text message of "case status changed' Status changed to Card was picked up by United States Postal Service. Tracking code showed up in Informed Delivery. Expected Delivery 9/8.
