AOS Biometrics Appointment Letter Recieved Opened

I'm hoping someone may have some sort of advice for me.

So my husband and I recieved the letter with his biometric appointment data in the mail a few days ago, but we noticed the envelope had been opened and then taped shut again.

I know there is some potentially sensitive information on there including the case numbers and his A-number, so that makes me a little worried.

Is there anything I can/should do proactively in case someone did in fact open the letter with the intent of messing with our case some how? Should I call USCIS or NBC or anyone and make them aware of the incident?

Any suggestions are appreciated! :)

Nah, I wouldn't worry.

It could have been glued poorly and someone at the post office taped it.

It could have been a mistake at USCIS, where someone wanted to check if the right letter was in there or something.

It could have been a neighbor that opened it by mistake (I just did this for my neighbor).

These or other innocuous explanations seem more likely then someone got the letter, opened it, and are somehow going to hurt you with an Alien number or a case number.

Good luck.

Yeah that's what I figured, just thought I would pose the question to see if there were any steps to take to prevent the unlikely worse case scenario.

Thank you!

What can they do with a case number or A number? Nothing with that alone.

I've been able to get a lot of information when calling USCIS with just the case number alone. Other times they would ask for birth dates as well, but not every time.

I also thought when you send in a letter to cancel an application you needed the case number and A number?

Just trying to be proactive so we don't get blindsided by something later :) thank you for your comment though.

Since that other poster doesn't seem to inclined to answer you (wonder why..) Yes, that is generally what I see people tell users who want to cancel petitions.

Hope there are no issues!

What can they do with a case number or A number? Nothing with that alone.

Cancel the petition? Get info?

If it happens to be someone that knows the user and has their basic info like birthdates, full names, etc. then a lot more.
