Interview today. Got a 221(g) for additional evidence of our relationship. I had started a case back in 2011, which was closed because he was not ready to leave the country at the time. We separated for more than a year for this reason, during which I did not visit or call. We got back in touch in 2014, and decided we still want to be together.

I have visited several times since then. Our relationship is as real as it can get! We have pictures, emails, phone calls, money I have sent, etc. from before our separation and since we got back together. We met when we were both children, for God's sake. Sorry for the ranting... I'm so out of it right now.

Okay I know you feel down but lets make some lemonade out of these lemons. Good news is your case is at the embassy. No denial just a request for more evidence.

So focus on more. Highlight your visits. I would write up a relationship time line. No need to go through the (I didn't speak to him for a year). If asked he says I wanted to finish school before I immigrated. The truth that's it. Short and sweet,

Get some affidavits from family and friends who know you (no need to get them notarized) just a wrote up they have seen you two together and they know you two to be in love and real.

Have you added hm to any of your accounts if so include, Health insurance, car, bank accounts, lease, 401K.

Here's an example's I have passed along since 2011 for a Relationship Timeline and Affidavit of support.

You'll need your passport with your visa foil and the inked stamp you got on your passport at POE. I suggest you go to www.ssa.gov and find the "application form" and have that already filled out.

When you talk to a clerk, they will be able to look into the system to see if you are already there. If not, they'll use the application you've filled out and get you into their system.

Good luck!

Sukie in NY

Also take your birth certificate. I know my husband wasn't in system and they had to verify his status.

Anyone have experience with expedite cases..? Well my case is already in transit to new delhi because i had an expedite approved in August due to ny wife health. When i called nvc for interview date all they said i need to wait for an email from my country embassy as they have no control over my case.. anyone know the next step..?

You have to communicate with the embassy now. Have you send them an email and asked whats up? NVC can not help you now.

Ok, called to confirm that my case was also completed and yes it was! FINALLY!

Anyways, asked about the next steps and the info was kind of vague. To my understanding NVC will reach out to the local embassy (in our case Finland) to set up an interview date. Those embassies have x-amount of slots per month to fill with these interviews and when one month is filled up it goes to the next and so forth. So I'm guessing how fast you can get an interview is highly dependant on how much immigration cases there is from that country. I do not however know, how long it will actually take for NVC to reach out to the local embassy. When do you think we will start hearing? And when do we even get the confirmation e-mail? Also, will they be shipping the photocopy-documents overseas even though originals are requested to be taken to the interview. Seems kind of odd. (and another place where more time could be wasted - just shipping could take 2 weeks...).

Hope someone could provide insight. This is all I have for now.

But again. CONGRATS to all for getting this far! Just a little push and we are there!

Congratulations. I have added you to the spreadsheet. Welcome to the group.

NVC doesn't reach out to anyone. Each embassy send their calendar of available dates and time slots for the month coming up. This is will be for December.

They always start the last few days of the month. So probably this week most embassies will be slotted and they continue until they either run out of slots (the usual) or they run out of cases to fill the slots.

I keep my ears to the ground here and others post when they have called. Once people start calling and gets dates its suggested that you just start calling to see if your country is scheduling.

Yes your case file is sent to the embassy so they can also prepare for your interview. Prepare what they will as, investigate deeper if it's warranted. What ever they need to do to get the info they need to render a decision.

The originals use to be sent to NVC. Too many issues. Trust e this is so much better to take the originals to interview. Many of us have save alot of money. The beneficiary should have all the originals from the start anyway.

Now the email (The Interview letter-P4) that is so up and down as far as how long after scheduling. Who knows. a day a few days a week. Every month its different.

Very informative, thank you.

So, should we start calling this week to see if we have interview dates? From what I'm reading in your post, we can't rely on the email from NVC reaching us promptly. When would you recommend we start calling NVC?

Been checking the status on the CEAC website. Doesn't look like the case has been "touched" since arriving at the embassy in Sept. is that normal or am I checking in the wrong place?

Nothing to worry about. They didn't touch ours until interview day and they had it a month.

Hi! You said that your expedite request was approved last August, right? How is it that you still waited for the CC? As far as I know and understood as soon as your expedite request is being approved they will right away send your case to the Consulate your case is assigned to and from there NVC will have no control over your case and if ever they require more documents then those should be brought with you during the interview.

As with our case, as soon as NVC sent us an email that the request was accepted they then right away sent our case then few days later as soon as the status online showed that our case was "Ready" we then received an email from the embassy on my interview schedule and the documents they require from us since we were not able to send NVC anything both AOS and IV. Interview was scheduled 2 weeks from that day. From that day I have to schedule my medical and now I'm just waiting for Wednesday, crossing my fingers and all in panic mood.

You are absolutely correct.. I guess thats how they suppose to work.. but in my case i dont know why it was diffrent. NVC said Delhi embassy only accept expedite cases when they have all papers and fees paid in to NVC Means i still had to wait for CC.. this was the email i recived from NVC

"The U.S. Embassy or Consulate is willing to expedite this case when we have all the fees, forms, and documents. If you have not already done so, you can pay your fees and submit Form DS-260 at ceac.state.gov. Please send everything else to this address:"

So i got my CC on 17.10.16 and my file left NVC same day for Delhi. Right now my status is showing "ready" from friday.i mean i find it wierd because whats the point of expedite when i had to wait this long for CC. But yeah thats NVC..

My husband is APPROVED!!:dance::dance: Thank you all so much for your advice/instructions. Because of the tips I received here on VJ my husband's interview went so smoothly that it didn't even seem like an interview, according to him. They barely asked any questions. It was more like a conversation.

I'm absolutely ecstatic, and I can't wait for me and my son to reunite with my husband.

Thank you all again!
