Hi guys,

Haven't posted on here in a while. Things with me and my wife have hit rock bottom (at least I hope they wont get any lower). I basically gave up on this whole process for a few weeks intending to go back home. I'm not going to lie, I'm still considering whether I will move back to the Bahamas but the thought of throwing everything we built together over a few rough weeks seems like a mistake. Things however seem to be evening out slightly now so I'm backtracking on a few things getting my ducks back in a row.

The first one is the change of address form online. When we received our NOA1, it was only for the AP. We did not receive any other letter for the EAD or greencard other than the text and email that just said 'your application was received' and provided the MSC numbers. As a result, when I updated my address online I only included the MSC for AP since I don't know which MSC is for EAD and which is for the greencard.
Will this be an issue? I received a letter in the mail stating that they updated my address but I'm afraid now that the greencard and EAD might still be somehow linked to the old address.

I wouldn't be so worried but the old address was purely in my spouses name (as I never put my name on that lease since we only lived there for 2-3 months before moving to our current address) and for some reason she set her forwarding address to her mother in new jersey (we live in Minnesota) and she is reluctant to change it. We have been walking on eggshells around each other for a bit so I don't feel comfortable pushing her to update it but i'm worried about any more delays in processing because of the distance the mail has to travel.

Also even though we applied late July, I have not yet done my biometrics. I missed my appointment due to the letter being lost in the mail and my new date is Oct 7th. Does anybody know if they stop processing until biometrics is received of if they would have continued processing what they could in the mean time?

1/21/17 - New card ordered for production

1/23/17 - Greencard Approved (no interview)

1/24/17 - Greencard Mailed

1/26/17 - Greencard Received

 

  • On Oct 13th AOS status was updated to say that a notice was returned due to post office being unable to deliver it. Tier two told me that it was biometrics or NOA1 (even though I had received both before this date).

  • A few weeks later I received a notice dated Nov 10th, in regards to my call about the Oct 13th notice. The new notice said that there were no RFE's or withholding on my case. So still not sure what this Oct 13th notice was about.

  • Received a letter from a NY office on Dec 23rd (dated Dec 10) stating that my medical was over 1 year old. (At this point my medical was only 7 months old)

  • Teir two submitted an internal service request to which I got a response telling me that I need to respond to RFE ASAP

  • Submitted another service request on 1/6/17. To which I got a response on 1/19/17 stating that my case was pending and is outside of processing time (no mention of RFE)

 

ROC Timeline

I have seen EAD cards arriving before Biometrics but it is rare.

You can try an early walk- in for Biomentrics and an expedite for the EAD after Biometrics if you have a job offer.

The whole address change thing sounds confusing and may give you problems so stay on top of everything, ask them to send you the

other two 'lost' (?) NOA1's.

Consulate Received : July 30,2014 Transfer to right embassy complete.

Interview Date : Oct 22, 2014

Interview Result : AP , requesting another PC (not expired) and certified divorce decree (was submitted)Stokes interview via phone for petitioner 4 hrs after interview.

Oct 23 email notification visa approved.
Visa Received : Nov. 3 , 2014 VISA IN HAND.

US Entry : Nov. 21, 2014

Marriage : Dec 27, 2014

AOS send : May 12, 2015, received May 14, 2015 USPS priority

Email &text : May 18, 2015, check cashed May 19,2015, return receipt May 21, 2015 stamped USCIS Lockbox, NOA1 (3x) May 22,2015

Biometrics : June 1, 2015 letter received for appointment June 8, 2015, successful walk-in June 1, 2015

RFE : June 12, 2015 for income not meeting guideline. Income does ( ! ) exceed guideline.

RFE response : June 26, 2015 returned with a boat load full of financial evidence.

UPDATE: July 5, 2015 updated on all 3 cases, RFE received June 30, 2015.

Service request : Aug 12, 2015, letter received that it will be processed within 90 days from receipt of RFE.

UPDATE: Aug 24, 2015, EAD card being produced/ordered. ( 102 days from AOS receipt day and 55 days from RFE response received.) Thank you Jesus !

Emails : Aug 24, 2015, EAD approved, EAD card ordered.

I-797 EAD/AP approval notice received : Aug 27, 2015

EAD/AP combo card mailed : Aug 27, 2015, EAD/AP combo card received: Aug 31, 2015

Renewal application send for EAD/AP : May 31,2016 (AOS pending over 1 year). Received June 2, 2016,Notice date June7, 2016, emails,texts, NOA1 hard copy

Service request for pending AOS April 21, 2016, case not assigned yet.
Service request for pending AOS June 14, 2016, tier 2 said performing background checks.
Expedite request for EAD/AP Aug 3, 2016, Aug10 notification >request was received, assigned, completed. RFE letter requesting evidence for expedite, docs faxed Aug18

*Service request for I-485 Aug 3, 2016, Aug11 notification> request was assigned. Service request Dec 2, 2016.
AOS Interview letter received Aug 12, 2016

AOS Interview September 21, 2016.

Second Biometrics appointment letters received for EAD and AOS on Aug 15, 2016 for Aug 17 ( 2 day notice).

Third Biometrics appointment letter received Aug 19, 2016 for Sept. 1, 2016. WTH ?!

EAD/AP (renewal) approval Aug 22, 2016, NOA2 received Aug 25, 2016

Renewal EAD in production notification text and online, expedite successful 4 days after RFE request response was faxed, Aug25mailed,Aug29received.

Sept. 21 Interview, 2 hour interview, we were separated and asked about 50 questions each for an hour each. IO was firm but professional, some smiles.
Several service requests made, contacted Senator and Ombudsman. Background checks still pending.
July 21, 2017 HOME VISIT.  Went well. Topic thread in AOS forum.
Waiting to skip ROC and get 10 yr GC due to over 2 year while pending AOS
AOS APPROVED Oct. 4, 2017 * Green card in hand Oct 13, 2017 !!!!!

First K1 denied after 16 month of AP. Refiled. We are a couple since 2009. Not a sprint but a matter of endurance.
