LuckyStrike,

You remind me of quarantine. Now, that's hellish!

It's only Plutonium 239

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Nope. Pope on a rope.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Air supply and communications line coming into the suit. We would only spend 3 hours max in the suits. You had 'hold it' until you came out. The second pic is undressing people out of the bubble suit. The outside was highly contaminated and you had to use several pairs of gloves.

Hell is a place where sinners really do burn in an everlasting fire, and not just a religious symbol designed to galvanise the faithful, Pope Benedict XVI has said.

[...]

Hell "really exists and is eternal, even if nobody talks about it much any more".

[...]

Agostino Paravicini Bagliani, a church historian, said the Pope was "right to remind us that hell is not something to be put on one side" as an inconvenient or embarrassing aspect of belief.

It was described by St Matthew as a place of "everlasting fire" (Matthew xxv, 41).

There's no hell.

Who am I gonna believe, a nuclear technician who spends all his time on VJ or an old faggit dressed in white with a gay hat?

Yeah, that's what I thought.

House of Daggon. Of course I probably spelled that wrong too.. but oh well. stupid hat then, stupid hat now.

If you believe in the Bible there is a passage in Revelations where it says that those whose name is not written in the book of life are cast into the fiery pit. It isn't something that Dante made up and the church adopted.

If your a Christian and believe in the bible then hell is a very real place. It is spelled out in graphic detail in Revelations.

Revelations 20:1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.

Revelations 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

Revelations 20:3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

Revelations 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

Revelations 20:5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

Revelations 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Revelations 20:7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,

Revelations 20:8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

Revelations 20:9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

Revelations 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Revelations 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

Revelations 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Revelations 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

Revelations 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

Revelations 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

I guess it depends on your definition of "believe in the bible" (I discount anyone who believes the bible is 100% true and not in any way allegorical as nutcases, so if you're one of those, feel free to be offended), but I have known quite a few devote Christians, including one who has a PhD in theology and has studied the bible in as close to its original form as you can get, that simply do not believe in Hell.

Still the pope is infallible, so I guess they're wrong! ;)

I remember hearing about a fairly modern theologian (Hans Kueng) who questioned that notion.

Kueng was stripped of the right to teach Catholic theology at the University of Tuebingen in Germany in 1979 after challenging Roman Catholic doctrines such as papal infallibility.

To each his own. You are free to believe what you want and I am free to believe what I want. IMO if there is a reward for following the teachings of Jesus then there must be a punishment for rejecting those teachings. Everything has it's opposite. Light/dark, good/evil. It's the way of things. But like I said each has to find his/hers own way. It's not up to me to judge your beliefs.

ETA Since I am not Catholic then to me the pope is just another man. Fallible as anyone else.
