So my fiancee has arrived...we want to move along get married....no need to exhaust 90 days as we are certain this is what we want.

I dont have much family in RI mostly everyones in NYC, Florida or ATL.... will us just opting for a courthouse wedding be so bad???

Will USCIS see this in bad light??

And i really dont need white dress or dumb flowers...

nope , court or church wedding is fine , they dont care how u do it , just that you did the marriage as the k1 visa requires you do , what most do is do a nice small one , then later do a big one in states or in their fiances/wifes/husbands country

I don't see that as a problem. my fiance just got a licence for a court house wedding. I doubt if we will have a lot of people, maybe 2 or 3 because everyone would be working and they all live far away.

They do not care, courthouse or huge church wedding. As long as you do it within the time frame they give you, how you get married is up to you. Congratulations :dancing:

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Courthouse wedding is just fine. If you wanted to though there are some places that do small intimate weddings or small elopement ceremonies for a more special feel. But if you don't care about the dress and the overall feel of the day, or if you're planning on a bigger do later, there's nothing wrong with courthouse.

Yes to a courthouse wedding. If you can't have your family here, then what's the point of a fancy wedding. Spend the money on a honeymoon instead, even if it is only a weekend. Congratulations and good luck.

Exactly what I'm planning on doing, have a small one with friends and some family at city hall to fulfill visa requirements and then plan for a real 'ceremony' later.

We were married at the commissioners office in Clark county. Just a non descript office block, our only attendee was our witness who was a new friend and insisted on dressing as elvis (well he looked more like a 70s pimp) and the Uscis didn't care - they just want the wedding certificate to show it was a legal marriage.

For a very (very) brief moment, I thought you were about to invite all of us after reading "I don't have much family in RI".

Go right ahead! Perfectly OK with USCIS.

The requirement is to get married within 90 days. That is all.

No need for big wedding (only if desired)

No need to wait until the 90 days are up

You can do whatever you want to, for as long as those two requirement are met:

Marriage - Check!

90 days from the date on I94- Check!
