Biometrics early walk-in, different centre?

I got my biometrics appointment notice in the mail but it's a way away and I'd like to attempt a walk-in. Thing is, the location I've been given is Brooklyn, but that centre is actually harder for me to get to than the Manhattan one (because inter-Brooklyn transport is a mess). Has anyone got any positive experiences of early walk-ins at a different centre than the one listed, in NYC specifically?

I've seen lots of people talk about being successful at walk-ins, but none mentioned whether the Manhattan centre was their original one or not!
