If I were you (and obviously I'm not!) I wouldn't book anything until you have the passport, complete with visa, safely in your hand. And if you really do want to book a flight, I'd leave as long a gap as possible, or book something that can be changed without having to incur hideously expensive penalties! If you look at timelines on here, you'll see that it can vary, but sometimes people have had to wait weeks, sometimes because of a delay in issuing the visa, and sometimes for no readily apparent reason at all!

That said... I had my interview (and was approved) on the Thursday, and had a text message from the couriers on the next Monday, to say they planned on delivering my visa the next day (Tuesday). I couldn't be at home that day so rearranged delivery for the Wednesday. That was pretty quick, but it looks like it can take longer (as well as less time, if you're lucky!) than that too... I think I'd be panicking and climbing up the walls if the day I was booked to fly out was approaching, and there was still no sign of my visa!

Oh yeah... congrats on the interview date - good luck!!!!:dance:

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png

congrats.

I'd wait to book it, or book it far enough out. My hubby got his in 2 days but 'mags' got hers in like 2 weeks. You never know....

I waited a whole month in the end and ICE2005 had to wait about the same too. So yeah, wait til it's in your hand. You can never tell what will happen at interview. ICE was stuck in namecheck hell for a month and I was just waiting for them to process some additional info, stuff you can't foresee.

Be patient.....

Congrats on the interview!

FWIW, we plan to wait and book my fiance's flights once he has visa in hand (but I tend to be overly ####### retentive  ).

Like they said, don't book yet.

When I got there they wanted additional finance info all of a sudden and I got it sent in ASAP but it was another week and a half before I got mine.

Good luck!

I agree with waiting for the Visa in hand, even though thats is NOT what I ended up doing. The fares were right and theere would be thirteen days between promised delivery and fly date. So yes!.. I have 48 hours of slight worry that it will be delivered as promised. I am on such a high at the moment, that I can deal with the small wait.

Thanks, you all! Looks like London averages about 5 days on getting the Visa in hand.

Does anyone know how or why some lucky folks get the Visa on the same day as the interview? Can anyone who has had that happen share some light on how? Or what the embassy said?? Thanks!

The flights right now are cheap enough to book it and still pay change fees if necessary.... the last minute ones on our route cost double +, no matter which airline! So, it's a lot cheaper to make a guess and hope for the best!

Who has gotten their visa the same day - someone here? I don't remember seeing that before, but I guess its *possible*.

Maybe they had extenuating circumstances of some kind - like a sick relative or what not.
