Hi Everyone,

What Affidavit of support form do we need for a co sponsor for the Adjustment of Status? My wife is a K1 Visa holder. We are planning to have my mother as her co sponsor but she is not living with us. Is the I-864A the right form to fill up?

Waiting for your quick response. Thank you very much.

Larry

Larry,

There's no such thing as a "co sponsor" for adjustment of status.

A Joint Sponsor prepares an I-864 with supporting documentation, same as the Sponsor. A Household Member prepares an I-864A jointly with the Sponsor, and provides the Sponsor with appropriate supporting documetation for the Sponsor's I-864.

not really, Iha used the term co-sponsor (inacurate).

Being a little picky arn't we? Co-sponsor, Joint sponsor - you realise that "co-" as prefix means "joint" right?

As for not mentioning the need for the sponsor to file I-864, I was simply correcting elgringo's incorrect statement.

Next time I'll just quote the whole I-864 instructions so people can't pick holes in what I say. This sort of thing really makes me want to not bother contributing here any more.

i recognize why you posted what you did. i probably should have quoted where i was responding from. namely clarifying Yodrak's correction as to why that thread may prove slightly confusing to the OP. sorry if i offended, wasnt my intention at all.
