So Hassan went to the Passport Office today to pick up the Movement Certificate. The date that they had actually finished the document was March 18, but the date on the document that he received said not to go to pick up the document until March 27. He went home all excited knowing that he can go to the DHL office and send it. He went home first and started to verify the information and the passport number was wrong, passport issuance date was wrong, etc. So he went back to the Passport Office to get it corrected and they were already closed. Man – anything else can go wrong? I don’t get how everything that we’ve received from Egypt has been incorrect.

Probably our own fault that he didn’t bring the appropriate documents to the Passport Office to verify the things there. Do you think the embassy writes things incorrectly down on this Movement Certificate just to slow things up and thinking we wouldn’t verify it?

Frustrated as it’s another delay. I’m just hoping the Passport Office won’t say “Come back in another 15 days to pick up the corrected document”.

I am so sorry this is happening........can't they get anything right???......so they stop requesting people to leave their passports at the time of interview only to mess things up even more......

when are they gonna stop the torture.....issue the visas already for people who've been waiting since forever......enough is enough

So hubby went back to the Passport office today to get the corrections changed. They told him it’s going to take a few days to get this done. They asked for a copy of his passport (luckily he had one as the embassy still has his passport) so they could get the right dates and numbers. So at least it’s fixable and in less than the 15 days that we were thinking. He’s going back on Saturday to get the final document and he’s not leaving the building until he verifies everything.

Did he have to bribe them though to get it in a few days? Seems like everytime hubby has to get something done he either brings someone along who knows a person in charge or he brings tons of bribe money.

I think this time it is not the U.S. Consulate that is the problem . . . it is the Egyptian Passport Office . . . equal time for screw ups I guess :innocent:

yes - a bribe was used and always seems to come in handy. The bribe was to get it done in a couple of days rather than the longer length of time.
