Hi all visajourney members,

I think I should post my topic us tourist visa here because it related to Vietnam. I filled out DS-160 visa for my mother-in-law to visit me and my spouse as a tourist (not business matter) back in July and remembered correctly that online form did not have the option for picking B-2 type for tourist. DS-160 has several options: B1 for business, B1/B2 for business and tourist, and "I don't know if it has the third option back then." Online DS-160 has a third option now labeled as "tourist/medical treatment" my friend told me. After my mother-in-law had paid the visa fee in Vietnam, I logged-in back to the ustraveldocs.com and scheduled the appointment and saw the B2 option for pleasure (the other options were B1 and B1/B2). So I chose this option. My question is if Consulate Office grant my mother-in-law B1/B2 (business and tourist), will Custom Border Control deny her entry strictly because of her tourist purpose? I did some research and though you applied for tourist visa, US Embassy will give you B1/B2 anyway. Is it correct? My mother-in-law is 68 now and has ties back home (husband, home, children).

Thank you,

Hieuminh
