Your wedding pictures helped you to get the CR1 visa.

But you need proof of Bona fide marriage After you entered US.

Did you file taxes as married, can be married filing jointly or separately.

I mentioned as married, and my employer is going to file for me. And now we are working in different states.

You cant just overlook your cr1 and your employer file for you...

And living in different states is no excuse for not filing taxes jointly.

If they find this marriage fraudelent no one can help you not even your employer.

Frankly speaking I have no idea on tax filing, When I lived with my husband for 8 months, I worked in his Uncle's office. That time the office manager told me that I'll be married and 1+1. Every month some taxes were deducted on my Paycheck. I simply thought like they will submit the taxes to Govt.

Similar way this July I joined in a new job which is in other state, and that time also I mentioned as Married and 1+1(Even though we have problems, my husband talking to me at that time). Now my employer also deducting taxes and releasing my salary. I again assuming that they will submit.

In India we used to Submit our receipts to Accounts dept and they took care of everything, I thought the same way. Sorry if I'm wrong.

Divorce him first. In the meantime decide whether you want to go back to India or file for ROC yourself. Regardless of what route you take, you cannot move on staying in an abusive and controlling marriage. Do you have family from your side or a support group here in the U.S.?

Yes. I am not going to live with him anymore, decided on divorce. Feeling like wasted 2.5 yrs of my life time for that rogue.

I've my relatives here, but I'm like hesitated to tell them about this, may be I need to open up now.

There is actually the same thing in America

Every Jan-April HnR block , Liberty taxes , Jackson Hewitt open up and you bring in your w-2 and or paystubs and they will file your taxes for you. On another note Your husband sounds like a douchbag definitely divorce him and decide if you want to stay or go back to India. I never understood arranged marriages, you have no idea who you're marrying or what your getting yourself into but different cultures have different views just feel glad he never physically abused you , you just had to deal with him and his phychopathic aunt

I love my husband ?‍?‍?

Yes, I called (this happend in June). They checked the location where I'm, if there was any physical abuse. They listen to everything. Suggested me few things, and provided me the nearest law office numbers.

That time I was too scared, and didn't call police bcoz I didn't wanted to end up my marriage.

Thanks for the clarification, I started getting paid from Jan'2016, so do I need to file in Jan-Apr'2017 ??

One day he was holding my throat and told that with out his permission I am not allowed to do anything, and I've to listen to him...I didn't get that, later understood that he was talking about GC. He broke the TV and shouted at me in a kind of vulgar

language which no one talks with a wife.

Most of the Indian weddings are arranged only. My own sister, and all my cousins marriages were arranged, and everyone is happy. Mine only in trouble :( :( .

I'm actually not sure I've never filed my taxes late but you should be able to call the irs to find out for sure. I'm sorry I didn't think he was physically abusive towards you. If you have any proof to document it I would definitely file vawa , no person deserves to get abused ,you got the bad apple with your arranged marriage

I really hope it gets better for you

I'll check about my tax filing. There were many incidents where he was abusive with me, and the biggest mistake I did was telling no one about this. Suffered a lot, still suffering. The only proof that I've now is the voice messages that he was talking vulgarly and abusing me in my native Indian language.

If I were you, I'd change your w4 to say single or married 0+0. More taxes are taken off but at least you wont have to pay them, which Im gonna bet you will.

Having single taxes taken off your pay check has nothing to do with how you file your yearly tax return btw. It just determines the percentage removed.

VAWA is for getting a GC. OP already has one, she can do ROC with divorce waiver.

There is such a thing as abuse waiver ROC, but you have to prove bona fide marriage for both, and with the abuse waiver you have to prove the abuse as well. Divorce waiver is easier.

I will never understand how Arranged marriages are ok for immigration purposes . One family pays another to marry 2 people that never lived together and sometimes never met . Sorry but there was a big chance that this could happen. You listed watching porn along with being abusive almost in the same category, Please , educate yourself better, One is punishable and the other is not.

My family, as well as my spouse's family spent a good bit of time looking into each others' backgrounds before agreeing to the wedding.

My co-worker told me about looking at each other horoscope for compatibility as well.

He called it "Horror-scope", very stressful experience.
