Hi everyone,

I have my immigrant F1 visa interview on 31st October in London and I am currently working outside the UK which is all recorded and up to date on my visa file.

I do not know how I can immediately return to work duties outside the UK assuming my passport is kept by the US embassy London for visa issuance on my interview day.

I am curious to know if anyone has been through such a predicament or if there are any suggestions to solve this delima. I tried but failed to obtain a UK travel document as I have not been able to get a letter from the US embassy saying my passport will be held in the case of any visa issuance - this proof is required for the UK travel document.

Also, I don't have any national ID to enable travel within the E.U. I've heard that travel on an expired UK passport is possible but I definitely won't want to try that!!!

Thank you for any feedback out there, take care.

Normally, you interview where you reside; it may be easier for you to move the interview to the country you work in?

You should ask them to let you keep the passport for your travel back to Malta, and rather send it to them by mail after the interview. Most embassies should allow that, but I don't know about London specifically.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.
