Swedish views on*:

Gender equality: women is the best gender of all times and men are scum...

Free Speech: The right to call anyone a #######, threaten to kill someone etc.

Political correctness: The skin colored band-aids are offensive because they should come in more colors as not all skin colors are represented...

*Very exaggerated explanation

That's something I absolutely won't miss, same goes for the insane political correctness and fake freedom of speech.

I'll be better off in the US regarding these things.

Is it that bad over there? I always thought they were pretty open minded.

Yup, that one. That is what has become of Sweden.... It's great that people want to eradicate racism but when you think a band-aid is offensive then you've taken it a bit too far. Stick to Frozen or Superman band-aids instead...

What I don't understand why do people get offended of a color of a band aid? I mean correct me if I'm wrong, band aids are made to heal a cut not to indicate a color right?

Because they only look "natural" on white people. And I'm pretty sure white people came up with this because they think people of color cares about the color of a band aid I guess.

:blink: I think regardless of color everybody should understand that: WE breath same air, eat same food (organically made from same organic stuff), sleep the same, we bleed same color... If people accept that concept many problems in the world will disappear.

I'll be honest I had few instances in the US where I was judged based on my color or accent, did it bring me down? No. Talking a little more to them, let them get comfortable with me made them realize we are not very different.

However the band aid thing is still weird. I mean its a bandaid I don't think you were supposed to hide that.

But let's get back to the original topic of the thread I feel like we are diverting a little lol

If you guys know the Polandball comics, they're always making fun of Sweden for being overly politically correct. :content:

But yeah I we should get :ot2:

Yes, I asked because my sister knows some Americans in Austria/Germany/Czech Rep and so forth who say "I'm never going back to the US! The US is awful, Europe is so much better..." and so on. So I was curious if anyone else here had had similar experiences to my sister.

One thing I really do not understand is Europe letting in all the so-called refugees when it's clearly extremely hard for any outsiders (even other "white" outsiders like my sister) to immigrate and fit in. I mean, how is that going to work? My sister said she doesn't get it at all, she feels like a second class citizen despite being white and looking European and being able to speak German.

My sister's Austrian husband does NOT want to leave Austria. He loves it and he'll be making the sacrifice for my sister, too...I hope it won't be overly shocking for him. But my sister is going insane over there, she can't take it anymore.

It depends where you move though. My fiancé looks very Mexican (his parents are from Mexico), very dark skin, black hair. He loves Berlin where I live. There are so many non-German looking people living in Berlin, that no one ever gives him weird looks or anything. Whenever he tries to speak German with his thick American accent people smile at him and answer him in German thinking he might understand. Once they look at his desperate face, they immediately switch to English (pretty much everyone can speak English here). Berlin is a very multicultural city that welcomes thousands of foreign people each year. I honestly think that if you want to live in Germany with your foreign partner but are orginally from a village, all you have to do is move to the next big city to help him/her fit in. I'm sure it would be the same for your sister if they would move to Vienna.

My fiancé absolutely loves it here and he has been begging me to live here in Berlin with me. It's just a smarter move right now to move to San Diego where he lives right now. He just got a big pay rise and has a very well paying job that he loves while mine doesn't pay that well and I don't really like it. He adores his family while I have barely any left here. He doesn't speak any German, I'm fluent in English and have lived in San Diego before (and it's my dream place to live). So for the next few years I'll be living with him in the US until he gets fluent in German and then we move back. That's the plan for now :)

I would love to visit Germany I have a lot of friends and family who live there. I need to brush up my German though, it got to rusty lol. All I remember is thank you and good morning and what's your name lol, the rest is gone.

Europe is not bad at all. Lots of "free" things you can get there: health care, education etc. But as you said " you never fit". In the USA (mostly)everyone has an accent. It doesnt bother anyone as long as you work, pay taxes and do something. In the Europe, your accent llbe a problem. You llbe a stranger forever. But anyway, I know lots of girls who live in Saudi, or Turkey and they fit)) The USA, its kind of freedom, you are a stranger, but in the same time " who is not?")) Germany, Austria or Sweden, they have a different mentality. They do not like to get married with immigrants or to get too close to them. Just different culture, thats it.
