I came in late to the story Was it the Amish again ?

Looks like it, still waiting for Obama to call it.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I came in late to the story Was it the Amish again ?

There were rumors early of it being an LGBTQ activist taking credit, but the current money is on the Amish based on recent developments.

The father recanted his claim. So what should FBI do if they did not find anything suspicious the son?

Lock the son up as a precautions?

The information was passed to the Joint Terrorism Task Force led by Federal Bureau of Investigation in Newark. Officers opened what is known as an assessment, the most basic of F.B.I. investigations, and interviewed the father, who then recanted.

An official, when asked about the inquiry, said the father made the comment out of anger at his son.

I don't know. I think a parent reporting a son to the FBI is a big deal and should not be taken lightly. But I don't know the specifics of what the FBI can do in practice.

Strangely I haven't seen exact evidence than just 'say so' that the father recanted. He actually doubled down on this to the press today sort of to the effect of ''well I did report him.. but I guess they didn't find out anything bad so I guess they must think he is okay?" It's a hard thing for a parent to turn in their children and claim a serious charge, even if there was a recanting, I think that they should have looked at him a lot closer. They looked at a few of these guys a lot closer and still never put two-and-two together you know? This seems to be just a general glance. I tend to always think that these agencies know a lot more than they let on.

Lock him up? No, probably not, but you have to ask how hard did they actually look in the first place. In pretty much all of these cases, it turns out all signs were there but somehow slipped through the cracks.

He also managed to bring his wife in on a visa, apparently (while having children with other ladies of which one reportedly says he is a deadbeat).

We do have something called the 5th and 14th amendments which both afford a person "due process". I have heard the father reported him so I hope the FBI did in fact investigate, but unless they found something to actually prosecute him with, i don't think they can really do much other than to monitor. This in itself may be difficult as I assume he was not the only person on their radar, so watching them all is most likely a monumental task.

...

I wasn't suggesting that they lock him up because his father reported him. What is the world coming to?!?

I was suggesting that they should have monitored him better. Glad you agree.

It is a numbers game, not sure how many Agents it takes to properly monitor one person, 10?

The story was that his father was being vindictive, who knows.

Isn't odd the same folks who are all for letting in 10 of thousands of immigrants from countries with high known terrorist populations , think the FBI should monitor anyone who might be slightly suspicious.

How do they do this. 24 hour surveillance? Perhaps ? Maybe tap Thier phones illegally? Lock them up until they can clear them?

Of course then the same naive people would scream we are targeting certain religions or ethnic groups.

Its amazing to me some are so clueless, that we have yet another terror attack by Radical Muslims on American soil, and they want to blame the FBI.

You would have to have millions of FBI agents, not practical.

All they can realistically do is protect the 1%, well a sub set of that.

So get used to it.
