An explosion has ripped through Manhattan leaving more than a dozen people injured on Saturday night.

The blast at 23rd Street and Sixth Avenue in Chelsea around 8.30pm is thought to have come from a dumpster and could have come from an explosive device.

The Fire Department reported that there were at least 25 people injured in the blast, but their injuries don't appear life-threatening.

It comes hours after a pipe bomb in a trashcan blew up near a fun-run for the military in New Jersey - but no one was injured.

At least two people were seen being taken away from the scene of the blast in ambulances, but the severity of their injuries was not immediately clear.The victims have been taken to several different hospitals.

Sources saying there is a good probability that both the NJ event and NY event were connected. No connection yet between these and the event that resulted in the injury of a jogger in July. There seems to be a few linking factors regarding the materials used, and police apparently are looking for a person of interest.

It seems that for the most part, these criminal terrorists aren't the brightest bulbs. Like seriously dumb. Doesn't apparently know how to make devices properly, has never heard of disguises, doesn't have a reliable group of buddies, doesn't seem to have any sort of a plan, and doesn't go very far. And they got him alive. What a failure at life. I heard his brother has an outstanding warrant, because he fled back to Afghanistan some time ago.
