I got hired yesterday, the job is a MRI Tech Aid position, I got it with my husbands help though, as he is in that line of work, I start on April 9th, so excited! will be totally different from the work I've been doing, which was nanny work, back in England. :dance:

Anyone else recently got their first job in the USA? :)

2/5/07 - 2 Year Green Card arrives!!! YAY!!!!

5/10/08 - Received RI Driver's License!

11/10/08 - Removing Conditions - Sent package out!

11/19/08 - Received Notice of Action - 1 year extension on my current green card - now waiting for biometrics letter.

11/28/08 - Received biometrics letter.

12/12/08 - Biometrics appointment - 10am.

01/13/09 - Still waiting............

06/08/09 - Card in production and on it's way!

06/22/09 - Received 10 Year Green Card! YAY!!

I got a job back in January working as a Technical Support specialist for a CPA in Maumee, OH. This is exactly the job I've been looking for, but had never been able to get in the UK, as everyone kept giving me the whole "we need someone with experience" #######. :( Was extremely fortunate to get this job through a temp agency and I love it! I've learnt so much working here. I already work at Best Buy in Toledo, working in the Geek Squad, but its only a couple of nights a week and I don't get a great deal of experience out of it(although everyone working there loves my accent!)

10/21/2001 - Met in person for the first time in London!

Nov 2002 - Anthony & Caitlin get engaged in London!

03/20/2003 - Anthony & Caitlin get married in the UK :)

04/30/2005 - I-130 completed and sent off

05/03/2005 - Forgot to send it Marriage certificate, sent by post!

05/09/2005 - London Embassy notifies us of receipt of I-130

06/02/2005 - Pkt 3 received

08/02/2005 - Pkt 3 completed and sent back

09/30/2005 - Pkt 4 received - Interview date set for 4th November

09/09/2005 - First child is born! Baby girl named Brianna :)

05/30/2006 - Green Card arrives in mail!! - Waiting for SSN now

07/10/2006 - The big move to Ohio!!

07/11/2006 - SSN doesn't arrive in mail, Anthony applies in person

07/18/2006 - Received SSN!!

08/22/2006 - Anthony gets his Ohio drivers license - journey is finally complete!!

I forgot to mention that I have just become a licensed real estate agent in the state of VA so I am thrilled with that. I immediately got accepted by a broker and am now waiting for the paperwork to be completed. Also, just bought a new home and the realtors selling the new homes have offered me a position in their office (the show home is next door to my house !!), so at least I can make some money whilst I try and gather buyers and sellers. Completely different for me too...in the UK I was a global event planner and held Marketing and Comms jobs.

Thanks guys!! hehe I'm looking forward to it, just like you said londonspod, I would never have got this job in England, absolutely no way, I haven't had any experience in this field, but I'm going to college part time doing general studies at the moment and working my way up to get into X ray and then hopefully MRI.

Hey britty your from Essex??! :) where abouts did you used to live in Essex? Love to hear from anyone who is. I was just down in Virginia Beach, VA a week ago to visit some friends, where abouts in VA are you? if you don't mind me asking. :)

Romford !!! Well I lived there for 8 years before coming here - originally born and raised in northwest London. Living in Alexandria, VA which I love cause its sooooooo central to everything (30 mins to Dulles airport and 10 mins to DC). Where are you living?
