I know that on page consulate says it is not necessary for the petitioner to attend the interview, but strongly recommended. My boyfriend and I believe that he can not travel to my country in those months for work . They know of any case that the petitioner was unable to attend as well. If so you need to bring evidence to show that continuing the relationship ? Another question , the date of the interview assigns them, or I choose when filling out the DS -160 ?

DR likes to question Fiancee....they have been known to continue the interview for the petitioner to attend. And other people report harder interview for people alone.

But if he cannot attend he cannot attend. Prepare well. Make sure you know him in and out. And have proof of additional visits and pictures if available.

DR does like them there. Not like other embassy's. This is a hard embassy I was approved two minute interview. I went on a Thursday got on the plane on Sunday out of work two days. If it's posible be there.

I'm a petitioner from US and my fiance is from Dom. Rep. And he had his interview on 9/2. I didn't attend the interview but they did call me for my interview. He was APPROVED. It's not Mandatory for petitioner to go to Dom. Rep. Interview unless official asked for the petitioner and they will reschedule.

I disagree with statement its not mandatory...or else why would they call...they like to question petitioner. IN DR

From the embassy page look at evidence of relationship.

Just because it works for one person doesnt mean it will work for another...

I know it says spouse but they will need you there especially relationships lacking alot of evidence.

Like Anitafeliz mentioned it is HIGHLY recommended that the petitioner be at the interview in the D.R. I was questioned just as much as my then fiance during the interview.

But I think it can be accomplished without the petitioner there. It is just not as seemless.

OP, if your USC fiance can't attend due to work can you try another month that is more convenient?

What everyone is forgetting to explain... Our sweet DR is a very high fraud country, so this is why they place the "Strongly Recommended". If your partner is unable to attend, please make sure to bring everything, including the kitchen sink and proof of why they weren't able to travel to be there. ( A Letter From The Employer-- Staying The Person Is Unable To Get Time Off)

It's true I have heard of this going both ways... interviews have been postponed because the other party wasn't there and I've seen people have approvals even with their partner not in attendance.

It's easier for all parties involved, if you both are there, as others have stated above.

Just know your stuff inside out and be honest and don't lie....

Well, I called the embassy in Dominican republic myself to verify was it mandatory to go for interview and I was informed that it's not mandatory. So there is no false statement from me. Some can't go to interview for personal matters work etc. So that why it's not mandatory/ obligatory for K1 Interview..

I'm in the similar situation. I did not attend the interview, she was APPROVED, but I did not get any call for my interview.

Did they call you the same day as your fiancee's interview? Did they call you from a DR number (809/829/849 area code) or was is form a US area code? Did they attempt to inform you ahead of time via email, text/voice message that they will call you for an interview?

I'd greatly appreciate your feedback on this.

I thought it was mandatory for the USC to attend the interview or else my large pregnant behind would of been on that plane back in August ????. Oh well his interview is next week and I haven't left here since March , my whole pregnancy has been from aboard. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones to have my husband with me every single day until we get his visa

I love my husband ?‍?‍?
