My fiance has her interview on Sept 23rd. She flies from CDO to Manila on Monday. Medical on Tuesday then interview on Friday. We ran into a little problem. She normally gets her period on the last week or first week of the month. Well, it's here now. Started on 15th. She says it usually is around 4 days for her so it should be done before Tuesday but I've read that the doctor might request for someone to come back. Even if it's over, they still can tell it was recent. We really don't want to reschedule the interview but I did some research and read something that said that the medical exam can be taken soon after the interview. It will only delay the visa until the results are in.

Is that true? If the doctor request that she comes back later, can she still have her interview and then go back for the exam? We already cancelled one date before and scheduled again. I think we can reschedule one more time without cancelling but we really don't want to if we don't have to.

I read that they normally request medical exam one week or more after last day. But we're hoping that it will be done at least by tomorrow which will be two days before the exam. I don't think it will delay anything but it would be nice to know if we can go ahead with the interview if they want her to return later for exam.

Reading SLEC's website instructions it says and I quote "While female applicants of child-bearing age can undergo the medical examination during their menstrual period it is likely that the full examination cannot be conducted. To avoid delays, applicants who have their menstrual period may choose to reschedule their appointment for one week after the last day of their period."

http://www.slec.ph/us-visa-applicants.shtml#required-docs

Yes you can have your interview without the medical exam. Once the exam is complete SLEC will forward your results/records to USEM for the consulate to finish processing your visa. Expect a delay of about 2-3 weeks.

If you are in town already, then go and see if the entire exam can be completed. Either way keep the interview appointment and complete it.
