My fiancé is unable to obtain the birth certificate of his 5 year old child (she is not my child, but from a previous relationship) because he is not listed not he birth certificate. He listed her on his DS 160 and I listed her on his initial application, because she is his child and because we thought he was on her birth certificate all this time.

Since he isn't on it, he can't obtain one through VitalChek and the mother of the child "doesn't know where one is" and won't go get a new one.

Is this going to be an issue at his interview at the Embassy?

If the child is getting a K2 visa, she needs a birth certificate. If she is not immigrating with him then no problem.
