Advise on changing name on Passport after K1 Marriage

Hey

I arrived in the US last week (11th Sept) on a K1 visa and am marrying my American better half next Friday (23rd)

My question is, once we are married, how do i go about changing the name on my passport to my new, married name and when would you advise that the best time to do this is?

Should we wait until after the AOS process has been completed or are we able to do it once we have filed the AOS but are waiting for a response? We're filing the packet as soon as we have the marriage certificate the following week.

I'm a bit clueless on what to do and I've tried googling with not much success.

What have other UK AOS applicants done before?

I would hold off because you will need your passport for various thing like marriage license, SSN, bank, biometrics, etc.. You don't want to be mailing your main source of ID off to England when you will need it for various processes here in the US.

I'm assuming that there won't be an issue throughout the AOS process applying with my new married name despite my passport being in my maiden name as long as I have the marriage certificate?

I sent mine off to England after I'd had my biometrics, got my drivers license etc, I didn't 'need' it in my married name but I wanted it so all my id's are in the same name

Took 2 weeks to come back in my married name ( you can use US size passport photos)

Edit to add: USCIS are used to the name change, take your marriage certificate to your biometrics apt, sometimes they want it and sometimes they don't!
