HI,

Me and my fiancé just received the NOA1, when we filed the i-129f , at the question "have you been mariied" i answered no, but in france i contracted a "pacs" few years ago with my ex, because the question was about mariage my fiancé and i judged that i didnt need to answer yes.But that pacs is on my birth certificate. Does someone had the same problem? Im not sure if i did right or wrong of not answering yes to the previous mariage question.i have in france all the papers of the dissolution of that pacs in case they will need it.

Do you think that might be a problem? thank you.

Thanks for your answer, pacs its not a mariage, its two diferent things in france. But maybe they will considerate it like that. For the moment with the first form I-129F i didnt have to send them my birth cetificate. So maybe in the next step..i dont know.DO you think call them about that can me useful?

If it's a civil partnership, that's not marriage, but I'd have included an extra page with an explanation after answering No.

I take it it's dissolved now?

Then I can't see it should be a problem since it's not a marriage.

You still need to disclose it and show it was dissolved. You were not married, but if it was not dissolved you would not be free to marry therefore you have to show it was dissolved.

Hello!

Didnt cause any issue at all! I never told about my previous pacs because it does not simply exist in the US, so there were nowhere on any form to check a box about it :) . After the K1 i entered in the usa, got married, did the change of status , got my 2 years green card. ( took 16months since I begun the process once married) . Dont hesitate if you have any other questions . ( im back in France now with hubby :) )

Hello,

I had the same problem, pacs dissolved with my ex, but since it does not exist in the US and is not considered a marriage, I checked the single box. I know it is a long time ago, just seeing this post, but did you need to provide the "dissolution paper" at the embassy?
