I'm about to send out my 1-130 to get my husband's IR1 visa but just need to double check some things.

1. My mother will be our sponsor back home as both my husband and myself will be movingl together so she has filled out an I-864. Do I need to fill one out as well even tho she did? I think I do, just want to make sure.

2. After receiving his LDN number I know we can set up his medical. I phoned Knightsbridge yesterday and they said that they can usually see someone within a week. Is there a time limit on how long we can take to set up the medical? If we start the process in a couple weeks it seems like his medical could fall around Xmas and it might be hard to take time off of work then.

I think those are my only questions for now. Thanks so much!!

Sorry for replying to myself but I have one more question...

Can anyone tell me how long you have from the time the medical happens until we would have to be in America? I have heard 6 months but have also heard 3 months. Thank you!

I booked the medical this week and she basically said "pick a day" which I did and there were appointments. My medical is the 14th October and my embassy appointment is 31st October.

The validity of the medical is only linked to your embassy appointment - see quote from embassy website:

"Six months from the date on which it is performed. It is important to note that the medical examination must be valid not only on the day of the visa interview, but also at the time you enter the United States on the visa."

You don't send the I-864 - this is needed for the interview and you will also need to provide on (the petitioner) even if you don't meet the requirements.

Hope this helps!
