Well, here's the thing about that... Obama making it to the top is a good thing for himself, at least, and maybe for blacks overall. If something positive comes out of it for your POC, then that is great. But at the end of the day, not all of us see him as a good president the way you do. I will add that just as I intimated to J in the post you replied to, there were no personal attacks against you by LIB in any of those examples. You may have TAKEN it personally because you felt it was negative towards POC, but in the examples you posted, I saw nothing wrong against you nor her. They may exist, I know I haven't read nearly a tenth of the threads in CEHST over the past 6 years, but I never saw LIB attack you, as was alluded to. Disagreeing with and providing links is not the same as attacking. In your first link above, he was actually saying the same thing you have said before.

Also, just as an aside, there is a fine line between keeping receipts and holding grudges. I hope it never ends up being the latter for your sake, but I can see how easy it would be to do so.

Who was upset about who replied for whom? My spouse isn't the kind to hang out on Internet forums, particularly not one like CEHST. In fact, you're one of only 3 people in CEHST who have ever talked to her. If you have something to say about her, feel free.

We have no control over the mods actions, hence this thread in the first place. Truth be told, probably a LOT more of the threads in CEHST should be deleted, not just closed. Heck, I think it would be best for this site, revenue aside, for it to be terminated.

Can you provide a single link where I suggested ANYONE should be banned from the US? The only thing I have ever said that could be remotely skewed like that is that illegals shouldn't be allowed when there is a process for folks to get here legally, as this site and 99% of it's members advocate. I don't appreciate your accusation, but I am sure that if there is ANY truth to it, you or Marv will be along with a "receipt" real soon proving me wrong.

I'm surprised your comrade wasn't banned earlier given his history of posting articles in which he tried to denigrate people of color, especially blacks and Muslims. A few things:

This site has a TOS. One that's a bit wonky sometimes, but that's the price of being here. I've seen some shady bans and questionable judgement calls, but we're on someone's site as guests. Unless you pay, or run it, you have to play the game. Folks get warnings and if you don't adhere to the rules, you get the boot. It's real simple.

Now, on to the real issue. The member in question has been here for over a decade. More than a few of us felt that he was given quite a wide berth in regards to posting, given his exclusive posting history of only 3 topics give or take. Personally seen it where his thread, while derogatory towards an entire group of people, was left alone and his speech unimpeded, while a member was banned for just speaking his name in the same thread. So the fact he was banned, means he's probably been skating on thin ice longer than any of us. And was probably warned more than any of us combined. Free speech is freedom to speak your mind, it doesn't protect you from the consequences of your words.

I spoke upon this in that thread where it was brought up. The folks are mad that he got the boot, but let's keep it 100. We all knew the history, and with the bans going out more frequently, someone on his side of the fence should have said something to him. He wouldn't listen to me or any other MDL, but one of you could have reached him. I know here I've said some things that might have not been what I meant or even flat out wrong, and folks in the MDL corrected me. If I felt it was wrong, I apologized and made the correction, if I was right, I broke out the receipts. And I've done the same for a few members that I always agree with. That's what you do, you hold yourself and those in your company responsible for your actions, so there's no raised eyebrows in terms of integrity.

But I find it unusual to say the least. Another member said they stay out of folks business when it comes to blanket generalizations(at least in the realm of certain minorities) but make a blanket statement about a group of people you might have a fancy for, they coming in ready to shed blood. You can't say you're not for something when you allow it to go unchecked forever then be hurt when the hammer comes down. Either stand up for what's right, or go down with the wrong when it's time.

You can't be against something when you're in the background saying that's none of my business in an open forum. Especially when you're in the same space making comments on it, knowing it's wrong.

My spouse used to post here some, and she is very opinionated and more to the right than me. That's the issue. How can you NOT see the bias against people of the Muslim faith? Not only was it posted in plain sight, but if I recall correctly(I do) you made a direct reference to my former religion to Nazis. And my wife has that receipt. But, we're trying to show you that's not the way to go about it. You said you're willing to learn, then show us you're willing to grow and understand Muslims are not the enemy.

My spouse used to post here some, and she is very opinionated and more to the right than me. She posted something that got deleted and earned her a thread ban which subsequently resulted in her account being closed by a mod claiming her account was actually my second account. She was so pissed she swore she would never be back.

Since that time I rarely post here. Not worth the bother in most cases.

I see nothing wrong with moderator action in this case. It is always bewildering to me how many things that are said on this forum that are never removed immediately and with no consequences to the speaker. It is further bewildering the times when certain action is taken against some users that said little to nothing wrong, but others way out of line were not. Of course, that may be disagreed with.

The TOS is there for a reason and the administration for whatever reason it deems can resolve to terminate an account for any reason (even those that do not make sense). Those are the terms that every poster agrees to and takes for granted upon sign up. Does the TOS bolster or allow full free speech? No, it does not. Over the years I have worked on private forums and public corporate owned forums (before the invention of social media).. and it's the same thing time and time again. Things get out of hand, and someone gets banned. Then there is complaining about being banned and a lot of bluster about free speech. I've been threatened before, called every name in the book, told I will be killed, and oh the fun one of saying I will be sued; all for enforcing a TOS against a poster. I've seen posters come back and hack a forum for revenge, or sign up with 100 sock accounts in protest. It's amusing, but really what's the point? Free speech is great, and that's the point of robust discussion and debate - but forums have rules, and those rules are privately developed and do not operate in the confines of what is Constitutionally protected. There are other forums and chatrooms out there that have a more hearty respect for free speech and carry out an anything goes attitude. I'd suggest that some of what LiB had to say would be more welcome there. Rules are the rules, in a perfect world they'd be applied fairly. In this case, I find it fair.. but that obviously will vary from person to person.

Even this thread is slowly trending into the argument zone of which there is no real point, and eventually it will be locked. You all know it will. The mods are probably groaning about it right now. (Hi guys! Ya, I know right?! Why can't people just stop arguing and goading for five minutes and have a moment of love with ice cream and fluffy bunnies, and hugs and rainbows, and copious amounts of alcohol or celebrate all the things they do agree on... whoa am I saying this out loud? Sorry, I'll shut up.) Life is too short, and there are plenty of threads left to argue with each other about.
