Return flight issues

Hey all!

We recently had out K1 visa approved at the US embassy in London and have booked a "one way" (I'll explain this bit later) ticket from the UK to US with Opodo. We opted to book the one-way as we'd seen previously on here that some people had issues with being left on the flight manifest, and this caused some problems when it came to the AOS interview.

Our problem is that what we didn't realise is that when you book a "one way" with Opodo they take it upon themselves to book you a return journey in order to get the best price for your outbound trip. Although the terms and conditions say that there is no need to worry about this as the return flight will be cancelled as soon as you take the outbound flight, I am still slightly worried that I'll be left on the flight manifest.

Has anyone had any experience with this? Are we totally overthinking this? Any advice would be amazing.

Thanks in advance!

After you arrive you can personally request the cancellation to be taken off the manifest. Then call again to confirm.

Hi,

I don't want to try and scare you or anything this is just one experience. However, this summer I booked my one way flight from the U.K. to USA (Glasgow-New York) through opodo. Due to the fact I live on a vegan diet I thought I'd contact Thomas cook airlines to ensure I had food onboard ... only to find out opodo hadn't made any reservations with the confirmation number or my name. They also sent me a "ticket" with both my name spelled wrongly and the wrong DOB... I called the day before I was supposed to fly out and they had cancelled my flight. Essentially the way they describe the one way ticket is how you get your one way. I contacted my husbands credit card provider and struggled to get our money back because opodo refused to pick up our calls or respond to me. So just make damn sure your flights are legit. I've heard such bad things about them now also.

As I said just check it out. You could get lucky. I just wasn't in this case.

Thank you so much for this, and I'm sorry you had to go through that. I'm going to phone up the airline today and make sure that they have me booked on the flight just incase.

At what point did they cancel you flight? Or were you just never book on it?

No problem :-) yeah it was definitely not what I needed after months of spending money on visa related things. They cancelled it the day prior to my scheduled leaving date. It appears to have never went officially through.

I just spoke to Finnair, who the seat is booked with, and the guy I spoke to laughed at me when I mentioned that I'd booked with Opodo. Not even just a little chuckle, he was full on laughing. But he did confirm that the booking had gone through so that's a relief. I will keep checking up until the day though. Thanks again for warning me about this.
