Hello All!

My husband and I have been married almost 1 year on the 29th and I've just filed the I-130 for him. Can anyone give me a an idea of how long the process takes? I attempted to look through the numerous posts here but that got exhausting so I decided to just ask! Thanks for all of your help in advance!

If you are a USC, roughly 1 year.

LPR, roughly 2 years.

Thank you! I'm an USC. If our 2yr anniversary has passed before he enters the US, will he receive a 10yr or 2 yr stamp at POI? Thanks, again.

The above posters are correct. From what I've read about I-130 anywhere from one to two years with the average being 1.5 years. You can view Ghana timelines by clicking immigration timelines-------> IR1/CR1 Spouse Visa Timelines, then create a filter for Ghana. Well wishes on your journey.

I know the feeling.....at first it feels like an eternity!!! I've also heard the same thing....it usually takes about 1.5-2 years no matter what country, But have faith....once you start the process time starts going by fast. Good luck!!

Just make sure you read the instructions carefully, ask questions before you send your materials, and make copies of everything you send. Hang in there, the time will pass :)

1.5 years seems brutal! Thanks for the advise, given this time frame, I will definitely need to add *patience* to my list of "achievable goals"..lol

Timeline estimates (this is if there are no issues RFE, checklist and other mishaps)

USCIS approval - 5 months

NVC - 2 to 4 months to Case Complete

Ghana is a 2 to 4 month wait after Case Complete to be assigned a interview But that's now. Things change all the time.

Yes if your husband arrives after 2 year wedding anniversary you get 10 year green card.

e sure to read through your countries Consulate interview reviews and also threads. Your embassy is no joke and not easy. So I hope you had a good front loaded petition with quality evidence.

I added to my petition:

Proof of Marriage, both Islamic and Customary

Copy of my passport with stamps showing entry and exits (4 total)

Copy of my Ghana residency permit

proof of joint land ownership (entire deed)

proof of joint bank accounts, including emails from the Branch Manager directly to us thanking us for coming in and banking with them. (Large Account)

Photos of both ceremonies and pictures with family, friends, ect ( approx. 20 total)

proof of current employment for myself and Husband w/earnings

Husbands Mom is a former Council of State Member for Ghana, so I included a copy of a notarized affidavit from her and his dad with their Diplomatic passports

That's it so far. I am building a folder that will include more proof and original boarding passes. emails and photos of us (husband and self) in various meeting with Current GH President's Undersecretary, Minster of Education and Communication , ect.

Hopefully that will help., only time will tell...lol.

It seems from your posts you have things under control, but if you need any help feel free to message me. My husband and I are going through the CR1 visa process. We're through the USCIS phase (4.5 months) and are now waiting for our paperwork to be transferred to the NVC. It's a long process. I know it's easier said than done, but patience will be key through all of this. Good luck and let me know if I can help.
