I said yes and suicide.

You can ask for forgiveness from all the others and you can't ask for forgiveness for something you haven't done and if you commit suicide you are already dead so you can't ask.

I voted as follows:

Do you believe in Unforgivable sin - yes, no and maybe.

What do you believe is the unforgiveable sin - Blashpehmy, Murder, Suicide, No unforgiveable sin and Other.

It was a multiple choice poll, wasn't it? :P

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

Yes and murder. But the thread about the man coming to the states to have sex with a child comes to mind too.

Suicide, an unforgiveable sin? Ahh, that sounds like your caring, sharing Catholic church! So tormented with misery that you are driven to take your own life? Burn in hellfire for all eternity, that'll teach you!

Sorry... I had to sit through a couple of hours of that ####### at my stepbrother's funeral, and there's only so much stuff about 'praying that he won't be judged too harshly for this terrible sin' that a person can listen to without being physically sick. Ugh.

Suicide isn't unforgivable. Because God isn't dumb and knows that quite a lot of suicide is due to being mentally ill.

If there is an unforgiveable sin, it's going to be closer to denying God (we'd call it blaspheming the Holy Spirit) than murder. God forgives lots of people. This might make God soft on crime, but he's been sorta a softie ever since that angel revolt.

hmm I have to think about that now... because I still know right from wrong and I am bi_polar...so does being mentally ill automatically forgive me// thats a good point and question at the same time.

I thought the Unforgivable Sin was blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. I didn't realize the meaning could extend beyond that.

It doesn't. At least as far as I'm concerned, this is mostly God's problem to sort out, not ours.
