Hi folks.

We need to know where YOUR fiancee stayed in Moscow when she went for HER interview. Everyone here probably knows how expensive rooms in Moscow are, and we need the CHEAPEST! Our budget is so tight right now, it's insane. Albina and Nastia will arrive at Kazanskaya on 4/9, and have their interview on 4/11. Seriously- UNDER $100 American/night.

Thanks everyone!

Tim

Probably am being fecetious (sp??) here, but are there any public camping areas in any of the Moscow parks? If I could camp with my fiancee in or near Manila while waiting for her interview, we would both be very happy. Then again, we both like the outdoors and we haven't gone camping together yet...and of course, that's not for everybody. But perhaps something on the outskirts of Moscow might be cheaper? Does he/she have any long lost uncles, cousins or other relatives he/she could stay with in Moscow?

I stayed in an a 2 bedroom apartment in Moscow last time, Galina had a friend at a Moscow travel agent arrange it ~$75/night. Айвиста was the travel agent we used, (+7 495) 737-7150

Best bet is probably to arrange it from Russia, not here.

My fiancee stayed at the Irbis Hotel (booked through hotelclub.net) last year this time for $95 a night. I joined her there the day before the interview. I see now they are charging $126 a night. It wasn't close to anything and a long walk to the metro. Anything that was under $100 last year seems to be at least 25% higher this year. Good luck.

Try the suburbs of Moscow. Much cheaper. 1 hour or less on commuter train.

Also:

Or simply sleep at the train station.

Never heard of camping in Moscow. Plus its cold there during this time of the year, it is not a tropical island :) Plus it will definitely attract the attention of the militia who are just waiting to check the documents of the "unregistered" visitors.

The apartment I stay in when I am in Moscow is $ 85.00. It is ground floor, very secure, close to shopping, restaurants and stores, fairly nice, tv, washer. It is on the same side of town as the Embassy, a 5 minute walk to the metro.

If you want more info, PM me and I will give you an E-Mail address to see if it is available. I will be staying there if we ever do get to the interview stage and have stayed there 3 times. Nice people that run it too. If you know where the Moscow Zoo is, it is close to there.

Contact Olesya Pomazan, the "Russian Girl Friday." She let my fiancee stay with her for about $35/night. She's a single mom with a flat in Moscow and is really familiar with the interview process.

Check out her website: http://www.russiangirlfriday.com

You can e-mail her about the upcoming interview, and if she can't let you stay with her, she'll definitely be able to find you somewhere for a good price. I highly recommend her!

There's two fiancees that have used Olesya's services with good results. (Along with us, Marc and Olga are married, too!)

I think it adds a little piece of mind for anyone to know that your future (or current) wife will be staying with another woman, in the privacy of her home, and her experience with the visa process is probably the next best thing to you being there. Olesya is one of the only people you're going to encounter in Moscow that will take a personal interest in your fiancee's well-being and interview completion.

I cannot stress enough how great she is for this process. Her services are PERFECT for what "we" need. Again, I highly recommend her.

Slim you need to write a book!

I would, but then where would I find the time for VJ?

(That, and every time I try to do something to get ahead, it ends up backfiring, to the point that even Elena jokes with me about it! Better I just pass along what I can, and hope that I pay Fate back for all the good things she's bestowed upon me.)

Be sure to wear a sign that reads, "Please beat me up and rob me" - translated properly into Russian, of course.

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.
