I-485 question

Hi

I am filling in my 1-485 and have read that no question should be left blank. In the c/o bit do I write mine or my husbands name? I know is sounds like a silly question but I want to do it right first time

Also a few years ago we recieved WIC and I'm unsure what I am supposed to write regarding this. Plus I don't have any slips or receipts or anything relating to WIC, so am completely confused.

Any help would be appreciated.

You leave the C/O section blank, unless you want it to be mailed in co of someone. I don't know what WIC is, so I can't answer that question.

WIC is Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, its for people on low income helping out on milk & cheese etc for kids under 5. My US born daughter received it as an infant. This is info what I found online but don't know what I need to write as additional information.

Here is the information on WIC. It doesn't seem to fall into the public charge part (but I am not 100 % sure on that). If you have to answer somewhere that you got WIC, maybe attach a letter with the dates, indicating that you don't have proof of receipts.

Nutrition Benefits and Public Charge: Effect on Immigration Status

Getting nutrition assistance through the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) does not make an immigrant a "public charge". That is, an immigrant to the United States will not be deported, denied entry to the country, or denied permanent status because he or she receives food stamps, WIC benefits, free and reduced price school lunches or other nutrition assistance from FNS.

This clarification was part of an announcement by Vice President Al Gore on May 25, 1999, about new INS policy, which is effective immediately.

INS' public charge policy is consistent with policy issued by the FNS for the WIC Program in WIC Policy Memorandum #98-7, dated March 19, 1998, "Impact of Participation in the WIC Program on Alien Status". The WIC policy issued in 1998 was developed based on agreements reached with the INS and the State Department. Therefore, the INS policy on public charge, and that issued by the State Department to its consulates overseas, merely restates and reinforces the agreement previously reached on the impact of participation in the WIC Program on immigration status

Would I need to check yes or no on question 2. have you ever received public assistance?

Sorry, I am not sure. You could on the safe side check off Yes and attach a letter explaining that the public assistance you received was in the form of WIC. It doesn't seem that this will affect your application at all.

Maybe someone else knows if WIC is considered public assistance, personally i don't think that it does, I would imagine that means monetary assistance of some form.
