K1 and living abroad

I've asked a question along these lines, but things have solidified since then. When my first k1 attempt was rejected, I applied again. I then started looking for jobs and got one in West-Africa. where we'll be living for two years. If the k1 goes through this time, we will still need to live there for two years.

Should we:

a. let the process roll out, hopefully get the visa, go home to the US get married, and return to my work country, or

b. cancel the process, and apply for another visa in the second year of my work in that country?

c. manage to get married somewhere (ie go home on a tourist visa) and then return to country and apply for a spousal visa?

n.b. same-sex marriage is very much illegal in the country I'll be living.

also n.b. I question whether he would get a tourist visa to the U.S., as I know many visas are revoked as a "flight risk"

I'd stop immigration to the US until you are actually ready to move.

Agreed. The purpose is to move to and live in the US; if you followed through with option one, your fiance/then spouse would lose the visa after being outside of the US for so long and you will need to reapply anyway. Also, you would not get approved with having a job in a foreign country; they want proof of intent to reestablish yourself in the US and proof that you will have income there - money from a foreign job does you no good in the US as you would lose that job upon entering the states. Don't proceed with the visa process until you are ready to move back in a couple years.
