My understanding is that all DC residents are sworn in DC, and all VA residents in VA even though we do the interviews at the same place.

I have the impression that Virginia is faster, but I don't have data.

I think you are right. I did a quick search and Naturalization Ceremonies for Alexandria Division are held on the third Thursday of the every month. Which means this month's ceremony was Yesterday  and the next one will be May 18th. See link here (http://www.vaed.uscourts.gov/resources/naturalization/Alexandria Naturalization.html)

Good luck on yours Pieguy. Consider giving them a call in a few days to see whats going on.

For DC the next one is May 9, but if I miss that I have to wait until June 13. I am going to give them a bit of time but will call if I haven't heard anything by May 1.

FINALLY!  Just saw checked a few minutes ago (1300 EST):

"We placed you in line for your oath ceremony and will send you a notice for Receipt Number NBC######, with the date, time, and location of your oath ceremony. "

It took long enough! Hopefully this should be for the May 9 date.

Hi everyone

It's been a while. A lot has happened and if someone could update my stats that would be great please! my timeline below. So originally my interview was supposed to be on Mar 14 but due to weather it was rescheduled. a timeline of events:

Baltimore field office

Feb 6th - in line for interview

Feb 7th - interview scheduled (for Mar 14th)

Mar 14th - interview rescheduled :(

March 25th - received updated interview letter (for apr 24th)

April 24th - interview date - Result - passed :D

Interview experience:

My appt was at 7.30 in the morning. The office hours were 7.30 and I got there at 7:10 and it was already open and they were letting people in. I got in went through security, got a ticket and waited for about 35-40 mins until they called my name and took me to a room in the back for the interview. I had very nice and courteous lady who made the process smooth. We started off with the civics test. These were the 6 I got asked (didn't need to go past it) and it seemed to be on a piece of paper with 10 questions on there. She wrote the answers I said in front of her and would check it if correct or not right in front:

1. Who wrote the declaration of independence

2. Name 3 of the originally colonized states

3. Name one state that borders Mexico

4. What is the political affiliation of the current President

5. What are the two major political parties in the US

6. Who is the supreme commander in chief

After I answered all the questions she gave me a piece of paper and asked me to read "Who elects members of congress" and she asked me to write the answer "The people elect congress" (i nearly panicked that I almost forgot to spell the word "People" lol)

After that, she went started going over the N400 application. even though mine was the 5 years based application she still wanted to see my tax returns so heads up to anyone just in case. I am a male applicant and I had printed out one of those selective service letters which she really loved and thanked me for, so definitely do that, it saves time. She went over all the information - background, history, employment. I handed her updated travel plans since the petition was filed and changes to my employment since then. At the end she asked the long series of mandatory questions and finally she gave me the result- approved at which point I was quite relieved. I was frustrated that my original interview was pushed out 6 weeks and i had to cancel travel plans but it's done now. And now I join and wait for the oath ceremony letter to come in. I was hoping for same day oath but I guess they didn't have enough people today.

Will update as I get my oath letter in the mail. I'm hoping soon :(

Can you please tell me, how long did it take for them to reschedule your interview? Did you send out the rescheduling notice on March 14th? Or did you do this earlier than that?

Thanks

Hi - Well in my case it was an involuntary reschedule due to natural weather calamity so I didn't have to submit anything. They rescheduled me automatically. My original interview was march 14th. On march 16th, they updated the status online to say that a new interview date has been scheduled and to expect the letter in mail. I didn't get the letter until the 25th of march though so about ten days after they updated my status.
