It looks like I'm out of luck: "The Washington Field Office rarely conducts same-day naturalization ceremonies but will do so for military N-400 filings, Section 319(b) N-400 filings, as well as on most N-400 re-examination days (second interview to pass the naturalization test)."

Hi everyone-

 

I had my interview Jan 31- Boston filed office. I passed the Civic test, but the person who interviewed me said that a decision couldn't be made at that time and to wait for USCIS to send me letter with a decision. I didn't even ask why, because I knew that most probably he would't give me a specific answer since he was pretty rude and cranky. I am applying under the 5 years rule.

Now three weeks later, they have updated my online status to "Oath Ceremony will be scheduled" (We placed you in line for your Oath ceremony). I don't have the letter yet, so I don't have the exact date, but I am excited that it will be finally over:))

Also I just saw that my online case status has been updated, but I don't know exactly when they did that.

 

Based on what I was seeing from others, I was prepared to wait until April for the notice so this is a pleasant surprise. 

 

(1) I was surprised they scheduled it on a Saturday, for some reason I thought they did it on weekdays by default. Not a problem, just surprised me.

 

(2) They requested a bit more documents (basically originals and photocopies of everything plus 5 years of tax returns) than I was expecting. Again, not a problem, just didn't expect that.

 

(3) Now my main issue is to try to figure out if I can do the swearing in ceremony on the same day, I would prefer not to have to wait up to a month for the next ceremony. My location is Fairfax, Virginia.

 

(4) Also time to figure out the passport as I might have an international trip coming up in June so want to get that ASAP.

 

About point 2, this is normal. I went to irs.gov and took last 3 years transcripts + 2 full copies. He took all of them.

he said just Be Patient and he said also processing time doubled becomes 12 month instead of 6 ,, he said ur case at tampa office has been already assigned to an officer i would say you might get it by next month or maybe not..some times i feel we know more than them at this stuff..lets see whats the rest of Feb which is this week will bring

I am planning to take 5 years copies of returns (I am applying under 5 year rule). Since there is no issue of my marriage being legitimate (I'm single), hopefully they won't even need them, but I'll print them out just in case.

 

I'm also requesting the transcripts from IRS.

For me it shows "On February 9, 2017, we scheduled an interview" but I only received the mail notice on February 18. I didn't get any email or SMS (despite registering online). 

 

So I would say wait until February 27 and then call if you don't get something in the mail by then.

Yesterday I received a text and email:

"We scheduled your oath ceremony for Receipt Number NBC*xxxxxxxx. We sent a notice with the date, time, and location of your oath ceremony to the address you gave us..."

 

Hopefully I will receive the notice on the next couple of days, I will post my oath ceremony date when I receive it.

I spoke to L2 officer yesterday and they are still working on my background check. Not sure why it takes months to do so. My file is still at NBC also. I hope they will finish my background check sooner than later. It’s been 4 months since I got my FP done.

People from Dallas Field Office, any updates?
